Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce He was arrested Tuesday, the California Highway Patrol said.
According to the CHP, authorities found Pierce asleep while in the driver’s seat of his Range Rover as it was in traffic on Highway 101 in the San Fernando Valley.
Cops say lanes on the highway were closed while they investigated the crash…and a sleeping Pierce was discovered after they reopened around 11:35 p.m.
“Officers observed signs of alcohol impairment,” when officers confronted Pierce, “and conducted a DUI investigation,” the CHP said.
“Pierce was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, a violation of California Vehicle Code 23152(a), and transported to the Los Angeles Central District Office.”

Pierce — a Hall of Famer who played 19 seasons in the NBA — has been working in sports media since retirement.
He recently made headlines when he agreed to walk all the way from his home in The Valley to his Fox gig in West Los Angeles after losing a bet on a Celtics playoff game.
Pierce was recently laid off from Fox, and has not appeared regularly on television since.
