Senator John Fetterman congratulates Trump on ‘historic’ Israel-Hamas peace plan

Democratic Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, a staunch supporter of Israel, congratulated President Donald Trump on Wednesday shortly after the commander in chief announced in a Truth Social article that Hamas and Israel had agreed to the first phase of a peace plan.
Fetterman said he and the president are both steadfastly committed to the U.S. ally.
“I congratulate @POTUS on this historic peace plan that frees all hostages. Now, lasting peace in the region is possible. Our parties are different but we have a common unwavering commitment to Israel and its people,” the senator noted. on while including a screenshot of Trump’s Truth Social message.

Israel launched a war effort following the heinous Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, in which terrorists committed atrocities including murder, rape and kidnapping.
Trump, who brokered a peace deal, said in a Truth Social article on Wednesday: “I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed the first phase of our peace plan. This means that ALL hostages will be released very soon and Israel will withdraw its troops along an agreed line as a first step towards a strong, lasting and eternal peace.

“All parties will be treated fairly! This is a GREAT day for the Arab and Muslim world, Israel, all surrounding nations and the United States of America, and we thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt and Turkey, who worked with us to make this historic and unprecedented event happen. Blessed are the peacemakers!” added the president.
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and others have said Trump should receive the Nobel Peace Prize for the deal, but Republican Rep. Randy Fine argued that award would be insufficient if lasting peace was achieved, suggesting instead that presidential term limits should be abolished.

“The Nobel Peace Prize is not enough. If all living hostages are returned and lasting peace in the Middle East is assured, we should repeal the 22nd Amendment and thank the Lord for every day that @realdonaldtrump can be our president. There will never be another like him,” he said in a statement. job on X.
Fetterman was asked during an interview on Fox News Channel Thursday morning if he thought Trump deserved the award.
The senator said he believed ending wars and promoting peace were the key to success. He called on Trump to provide Ukraine with the resources it needs to counter Russia, noting that if the president ends that war, “I will be the Democrat leading the committee for his” award for ending the two “terrible wars.”
