President Donald Trump said Wednesday he may take a trip to the Middle East as peace negotiations in Gaza continue.
“I might go towards the end of the week. Maybe Sunday, actually, and we’ll see,” Trump said Wednesday from the White House as he kicked off a panel discussion focused on the radical left-wing group Antifa.
“We have a great team there, great negotiators, and unfortunately there are also great negotiators on the other side,” Trump added. “But I think it’s something that’s going to happen. I have a good chance of it happening.”
US envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are currently in Egypt to discuss details of a possible peace deal between Israel and Hamas in a war that has raged since October 7, 2023.

Trump reported Wednesday that negotiations were going well.
“I was just talking with people from the Middle East, our people and other people, about a possible peace deal for the Middle East,” he said. “Peace for the Middle East. It’s a beautiful phrase, and we hope it comes true, but it’s very close and they are doing very well.”
Trump unveiled a 20-point plan to end the war in Gaza on September 29, during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to the White House. The plan includes granting “amnesty” to Hamas terrorists who give up weapons in favor of peace, establishing Gaza as a “deradicalized, terrorism-free zone” and redevelopment of the area so that it no longer poses a threat to its neighbors or residents.

Jared Kushner and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff arrive to attend a joint press conference held by President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on September 29, 2025.
Trump warned Hamas that if it did not accept the peace deal, the terrorists would face “massive bloodshed.” Hamas announced Friday that it had agreed to release all Israeli hostages, dead or alive, as part of Trump’s peace proposal.
Israeli and Hamas officials met Monday in the Egyptian resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh, located on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula. Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law who helped facilitate the Abraham Accords during the first Trump administration, and Witkoff are in Egypt on Wednesday to help negotiate a deal.

An Israeli diplomatic source told Fox News’ Jennifer Griffin that the negotiations boil down to a shortlist of prisoner names and how the removal corridors will be managed. The source added that the Israeli cabinet is meeting to vote on next steps, indicating that negotiations are moving forward.
An official US source added that the Gaza negotiations boil down to “a few points” and that progress is being made in Sharm el-Sheikh. The mediators have ended negotiations with the Palestinian delegation and are preparing to meet with Israeli negotiators on Wednesday afternoon.
Trump added Wednesday that “the negotiations are going very well.”
“We are dealing with Hamas and many countries… all Muslim countries are included,” he said. “All the Arab countries are included, some very rich countries and some that are not, but almost everyone is included. This has never happened before. Nothing like this has happened before in our final negotiation, as you know, with Hamas. And it seems to be going well.”
