President Donald Trump sent a letter to the Otages and Families Forum disappeared on the second anniversary of the October 7 massacre, thanking them for their call to the Norwegian Nobel Committee.

On Monday, the hostage and missing families forum published a letter to the Nobel Committee, saying that after two years of suffering, they believed that Trump’s efforts had brought them to a turning point. The group has also recognized the number of hostages released since Trump’s inauguration, giving certain families their loved ones and other “the dignity of burial and closure”.

“The determination of President Trump to bring peace has made possible what many considered impossible. From his inauguration, he brought us the light in our darkest moments,” wrote the forum. “We are convinced that he will not rest until the last hostage is brought home, war is over and that peace and prosperity are restored for peoples of the Middle East.”

“During the past year, no leader or organization has contributed as much to world peace as President Trump. Even if many have spoken with eloquence of peace, he made it. While others have made hollow promises, he obtained tangible results that saved countless lives,” added the forum.

It is not known if Trump will win the award, but that does not mean that he has given up reaching peace and putting an end to war.

During the weekend, Trump urged the negotiators involved in indirect negotiations to “act quickly”, but he indicated that he considered Hamas’s response as positive and called Israel to “immediately stop the bombings on Gaza”.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accepted the 20-point plan during his visit to the United States last month. If Hamas said he was ready to release the hostages, he did not give a final response in Trump’s plan.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio praised Trump’s agreement as “a historic opportunity to close this dark chapter and lay the foundations for sustainable peace and security”.

The chief negotiators of Israel and Hamas gathered on Tuesday in Egypt while negotiations concerning the Trump peace plan continued. An Egyptian official aware of the talks told the Associated Press that Hamas and Israel agreed on most of the conditions of the first phase, including the release of the hostages and the establishment of a cease-fire.
