Exactly two years ago, Hamas terrorists stormed the Israeli border from Gaza, killing young families living in a small Kibbutz and tracking down young people participating in an outdoor music festival. The attackers killed more than 1,200 Israelis and took 251 hostages.

Trey Yingst de Fox was on the scene several days after the Beeri massacre. Here is what he saw:

“The kitchen floors are stained with blood. People were at home at that time. It was early on Saturday when Hamas militants burst into their homes. Soldiers tell us that they found bodies that seemed to have been executed. People with hands linked behind their backs, mothers holding their young children, beheaded bodies. A pure horror in this small town,” said Yingst.

Forty-eight hostages remain in Gaza. We think that twenty of them are alive. Aviva Siegel was detained for 51 days, while her husband, Keith, was detained for more than 400 days.

“When they came to kidnap us, they shot us. And one of the bullets touched Keith. And she did not touch me because I was lucky, but it could have been different. And we were taken underground and we simply had no air to breathe. And I really felt that it would be my last hours of my life,” Siegel told Fox News.

She remembers having arrived in Gaza and having seen Palestinian families applauding and making fun of injured hostages.

“Everyone was waiting for us. They knew we arrived. And we were immediately taken underground. And I will never forget the image I have in my head of the terrorist, telling me to descend this scale. It is very narrow to descend underground. I will never forget their smile,” said Siegel on the occasion of the second anniversary of the attacks and the beginning of their captivity.

Her husband Keith was kept in isolation for six months.

“I was moved 13 times in 51 days during my stay there. While Keith stayed there for 484 days, we were tortured, we were hungry. They ate in front of us. I lost 10 kilos. Keith returned home resembling a skeleton. He was so thin. I couldn’t walk when I came back.”

Tens of thousands of Gazaouis were killed by the Israeli army, which now controls 80 % of the Gaza Strip. Israel claims not to target civilians, but more than 90 % Gaza is now destroyed.

“I saw Hamas terrorists touch the girls and do what they wanted. I saw Hamas terrorists beat one of the girls who was with us and threaten her to kill her simply because they thought she was lying,” said Siegel. “For me, it was as if I had been killed. For me, not being able to help them and helping Keith when he was tortured was the worst thing I could live. It was worse than when I was tortured. And I was tortured. I was pulled by the hair. I was thrilled. I was hungry. I was laughed at me. I was threatened.”
