Gilbert, Hitler and Pol Pot. Gilbert obtains two balls.”
In another message, Jones hypothesized if Gilbert and his wife Jennifer “raised small fascists”.

President Donald Trump weighed on Sunday, calling Jones as “the radical left” and exhoring him to abandon the race. The president described Spanberger as “weak and ineffective” and congratulated the opponent of Jones, the attorney general of Virginia, Jason Miyares.
“Abigail Spanberger, who presents himself for the governor, is weak and ineffective, and refuses to recognize what this madman did,” Trump posted on Truth social. “Even the Democrats say that it is the territory of the” resignation of the campaign “. The Democrat Jay Jones should abandon the race, immediately, and the inhabitants of Virginia must continue to have a great attorney general at Jason Miyares who, by the way, for my complete and total approval – Jason will never let you down!”
Virginia Ag’s candidate once referred to “two bullets at the head” of the GOP chief, the texts show

In a statement published in the media, Jones said: “I take full responsibility for my actions, and I want to apologize the deepest apologies to speaker Gilbert and his family.”
“Reading behind these words made me sick in my stomach. I am embarrassed, ashamed and sorry. I contacted President Gilbert to apologize directly to him, his wife Jennifer and their children. I can not take what I said; I can only take a complete responsibility and offer my sincere apologies.
“The Virginians deserve honest leaders who admit when they are wrong and arise at their mistakes. It was a serious mistake, and I will work every day to prove to the inhabitants of Virginia that I will fight for them as a prosecutor general,” he added.
