DHS says that immigration operations will continue when the government closed

While the federal government is moving towards a potential closure from Wednesday, the Ministry of Internal Security assured that immigration and border operations would continue, but said that front -line employees could work without salary.

DHS noted Tuesday in a declaration to Fox News Digital that customs and border protection, immigration and customs application, the American coast and the Security Administration will continue their “critical functions”, including the ice able to “stop and deport criminal foreigners” and the CBP to be able to “filter goods and people”

The agency also noted that the officers’ hiring processes would continue, including for recruitment.

“While these critical operations continue, the Democrats force many of our nearly 200,000 front -line officers, emergency workers and employees to continue the security of the homeland without salary,” said DHS assistant secretary, Tricia McLaughlin, in a statement.

“Extreme left-wing politicians demonize our employees every day, which has led to an increase of 1,000% of assault on our police. Now, they hold their family finances and compromise their well-being. It is unacceptable.”

Tuesday afternoon, a government closure seems likely and would be the first since the end of 2018 and entered 2019 in the first term of President Donald Trump. There were also long closures during the Obama and Clinton administrations.
