The Trump administration said on Monday that it had started a new process to block the admissibility of the University at Harvard to federal subsidies and its ability to conclude new federal contracts – another salvo of Trump officials while they continue to target the oldest and richest university in the country.
The Ministry of Health and Social Services informed Harvard president on Monday, Alan Garber, in a letter he launched the university landing process – a decision that would make the school inadmissible for the reception of the federal subsidy or to conclude new federal contracts.
HHS officials have cited anti -Semitism allegations brought to university and what Trump officials have argued is the school failure to comply with the recommendations of a working group on federal anti -Semitism earlier this year.

The familiar refrain was at the center of a legal struggle of several months between Trump officials and Harvard lawyers, who faced efforts to comply with the recommendations of a federal working group earlier this year.
Trump officials argued that the school had not done enough to comply with the recommendations of the working group; Harvard replied that the effort is equivalent to an unconstitutional “pressure campaign” of the administration to influence and exercise control over its academic programs.
It is not known how long the landing process will take, and these efforts are often preceded by a short -term suspension period, according to data from the HHS office for civil rights.
However, in case of success, the effort could threaten billions of dollars in funding for Harvard at an already vulnerable time for the university.
The landing process, in the event of success, could possibly “blacklist” Harvard to do business with the government in any capacity – including blocking its ability to accept billions of federal research funds and to sign new contracts with federal agencies.

Harvard lawyers would have struggled to negotiate with the Trump administration during the current settlement talks, weeks after a Boston judge reassured Harvard and ordered the administration to restore billions of school funds.
The news comes only a few weeks after a federal judge of Boston reassured himself with Harvard, judging that the Asset administration had illegally acted in the freezing of more than $ 2.2 billion in federal research funding that had been allocated to Harvard.
In a summary judgment of 84 pages at the beginning of the month, the American district judge Allison D. Burroughs rejected the affirmation of the Trump administration according to which she tried to strip Harvard of billions of federal funding due to allegations of anti -Semitism, or the failure of the university to comply with the recommendations of a working group on federal anti -Semitism.
“An examination of the administrative file makes it difficult to conclude something other than the defendants used anti -Semitism as a smoke screen for a targeted and motivated attack ideologically against the first universities of this country,” said Burroughs in his decision.

Harvard lawyers continued the Trump administration in April for its attempts to freeze billions of federal funds and block other subsidies – which they supported before the courts equivalent to an unconstitutional “pressure campaign” designed to influence and exercise control over its academic programs.

The New York Times reported That the Trump administration is likely to appeal the decision, although the time limit for the appeal and the next steps to challenge the summary judgment remain vague.
