The best democrats strike two very different notes on responsibility: the applauding president Donald TrumpThe condemnation for crime is proof that “no one is above the law”, while exploding the recent indictment of the former director of the FBI, James Comey, as a pure political recovery.
The Comey indictment triggers fierce political reactions
In 2019, the component of the Nancy Pelosi Chamber declared during a discussion at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco that the Democrats thought “that no one is above the law”, including the commander-in-chief.
“Everyone wants the president to be held responsible in the most serious way. And everyone believes, now I speak on the democratic side, that no one is above the law, in particular the President of the United States,” said Pelosi.

Former president Joe Biden reiterated the mantra “nobody is above the law” before the remarks of her white house in the Middle East on May 31, 2024.
He said the New York affair against Trump was “a state affair, not a federal affair”, decided by “a jury of 12 citizens” after five weeks of evidence and deliberations.
Comey denies the accusations, says: “I’m not afraid”
The jury, noted Biden, “returned a unanimous verdict” to judge Trump guilty of 34 Crime charges, while stressing that Trump has the right to appeal.

“This is how the American justice system works,” said Biden, the appellant “imprudent, dangerous and irresponsible” to claim that the trial was just rigged due to an unfavorable result.
The head of the Senate minority, Chuck Schumer, DN.Y., addressed Trump’s condemnation in a speech of June 3, 2024 saying that “former President Donald Trump is now a condemned criminal”.
“The point to remember the most important of this case is that no one is superior to the law, including Donald Trump,” he added.
In the heels of Comey’s indictment, Schumer said on Sunday that he had “no confidence in Trump’s judicial system”.

Schumer said that on NBC News’ “press meeting” that Trump “had transformed this judicial system to be his own political fighter”.
“He tells them to go after people he doesn’t like. He tells them to exempt the people he loves,” said Schumer.
Senator Tim Kaine, D-VA., Denounced what he called a “malicious prosecution”, reminding journalists that Trump had previously dismissed a prosecutor who refused to carry “frivolous accusations”.
Trump replies that Comey the indictment concerns justice or revenge
Senator Mark Warner, D-VA., Vice-president of the Senate Intelligence Committee, issued an even clearer reprimand.

“This type of interference is a dangerous abuse of power,” he warned. “By ousting an independent prosecutor respected and replacing it with a supporting partisan loyalist, Trump undermines one of the most important American lawyers’ offices in the country and erodes the rule of law itself.”
While the Democrats were based on the chorus “no one is above the law”, Trump retaliated – telling journalists on Friday at the White House that the indictment against the former FBI chief was the rotation of corruption, not political recovery.
“This is really justice, it is not a revenge,” said Trump. “It is also the fact that you cannot let this continue. They are sick, radical who left people, and they cannot get away with it, and Comey was one of the people.”

“He was not the biggest, but he is a dirty cop,” said Trump, adding, “he has always been a dirty cop. Everyone knew it.”
