The state of Oregon put a legal action on Sunday to block the plan of President Donald Trump to deploy 200 troops of the National Guard in Portland.

The trial was announced by the Attorney General of Oregon Dan Rayfield in the hours after Governor Tina Kotek receiving a service note from the Secretary of the Ministry of War Pete Hegseth, in which he authorized the deployment of troops for 60 days.

According to the order seen by Fox News Digital, the Oregon National Guard controlled by the federal government would be stationed in Portland to protect federal property “where demonstrations occur or are likely to occur”.

Kotek, the mayor of Portland, Keith Wilson, and Rayfield, all Democrats, responded by jointly depositing the protest of the Federal Court, arguing that the decision of the administration is “illegal” and useless.

“Oregon communities are stable and our local officials have been clear: we have the capacity to manage public security without federal interference,” Rayfield said in a statement.

On Saturday, Trump posted on Truth Social that he had ordered Hegseth to send “all the troops necessary to protect Portland ravaged by the war, and all the other siege ice facilities against antifa attacks and other domestic terrorists”.

Kotek also said on Saturday that she spoke directly with the president before Sunday’s order and had urged her not to send troops.

“Our city is far from the community ravaged by the war which he published on social networks,” Kotek told journalists at a press conference at Tom McCall Waterfront Park.

“There is no insurrection, there is no threat to national security and there is no need for military troops in our big city,” she added.

Despite these objections, the federal agents began to arrive in Portland this weekend, with a clash already reported outside an immigration and customs application center.

Mayor Wilson condemned the arrival of the troops of the National Guard.

“We did not ask them to come. They are unprecedented here or goal,” he said.

Senator Jeff Merkley, D-ear., Urged demonstrators to avoid confrontations with federal agents. “Their objective is to create a commitment that will lead to a conflict,” he said.

The trial follows a similar case filed by California in June, after the administration sent troops to Los Angeles.

“This will not be used to divide us as a nation and community under the guise of taking care of public security,” said Rayfield. “The number of troops required is zero.”

“As a permanent policy, the ministry does not comment on active disputes. We have no comments on this subject or the deployment of Oregon Arng at the moment,” a spokesperson for the Ministry of War in Fox News Digital.
