Zohran Mamdani’s promises to freeze rents and increase corporate taxes could trigger a business in New York Exodus, Fox News Digital at the University of Texas in Austin told.
Companies have been reduced against Mamdani’s progressive platform since its main victory has shocked the political establishment, with leaders like the CEO of Gristedes, John Catsimatidis, ringing the alarm on the Mamdani plans to open the grocery stores managed by the city and to increase taxes on the 1% if it wins in November.
“We have a socialist mayor from the far left who is trying to take control of the epicenter of global finance,” said Toth in an exclusive interview. “It’s like oil and water.”
Toth, a legal commentator on the economic and regulatory reform, explained why Mamdani becoming mayor would trigger a “stampede” of New York companies in his test, “Escape New York.“”

The researcher based in Texas argued that Mamdani’s policies “are obviously not what has integrated New York into the city it has become”, thanks to financial, media and communication industries.
The New York official warns that companies will flee “en masse if the socialist democratic candidate wins the mayor’s race
“If I am a New York and I am looking for an affordable place to live, it will not be in a city where Zohran Mamdani flows,” said Toth.
Affairs was at the heart of Mamdani’s campaign. Its platform also includes promises such as fast, free buses and free childcare services, contrasting its “basic energy” to its general electoral adversaries, former governor Andrew Cuomo, mayor Eric Adams and the republican candidate Curtis Sliwa.
“The billionaires – and the politicians who make their auctions – have made the city of New York unaffordable for too many New Yorkers and now, this campaign mobilizes tens of thousands of volunteers ready for a new type of politics,” said campaign spokesperson, Dora Pekec, in a recent statement announcing more than 230,000 doors in the campaign.

But Toth said that Mamdani is missing a key understanding of supply and demand.
“It runs completely how difficult it is for companies to stay afloat and regularly bring products to their customers,” said Toth.
“More supply is better for consumers,” said Toth. “More government mandates are worse for consumers because it raises prices.”
Toth said that the New York town hall elections are consecutive, not only for its residents, but for the Americans, saying that there could be a “continuous reorientation of American capital markets in places like Dallas and Florida”.
If New Yorkers choose Mamdani, “these policies will back up the city’s decades,” said Toth.

Mamdani argued that he does not like capitalism, telling Erin Burnett de CNN in June that he has “many criticism of capitalism”.
Asked about the criticisms of business leaders, in particular the owners of grocery stores, Mamdani told Fox News Digital that it would be possible for a “partnership” between the city and the grocery store and the owners of Bodega, despite its plan to open five grocery stores in town in November.
“I am interested in working with each New Yorker, and I actually talked about with a number of grocery owners and I clearly told them that I both recognize, and I appreciate the work they have done. The fact is that they are an essential element of our communities,” said Mamdani.

Suffolk University Cityview’s latest survey revealed that 45% of New Yorkers are very or somewhat likely to vote for Mamdani in the November general elections for the mayor, with a 20-point lead on Cuomo.
Fox News Digital contacted Mamdani’s campaign to comment but did not immediately hear.
