The United Nations – A Hungarian official met Fox News Digital at the United Nations this week while his country is ready to follow the United States by declaring an antifa a terrorist organization. He said this decision highlights the strengthening ties between the United States and Hungary now that the Biden administration has ended.

“I think that is another problem that shows that the current administration of Trump and the Prime Minister’s government (Viktor) Orbán are close to each other with regard to major political problems,” said Hungarian Foreign Affairs Minister Szijhártó, in Fox News Digital. “It was obvious that we consider antifa as an extremist organization, spreading an ideology of extremism based on which they encourage their members and activists to attack innocent. And it is simply unacceptable.”

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, a strong ally of President Donald Trump, said in a radio interview on September 19 that it was time for Budapest to follow “the American model”, according to the Associated Press.

Szijjártó also referred to an incident in 2023 in which antifa activists attacked people they believed to be part of an extreme right event in Budapest, AP.

The point of sale noted that one of the alleged attackers was the Italian anti -fascist activist Ilaria Salis, who has since become a member of the European Parliament, giving him the immunity of prosecution. Szijjártó told Fox News Digital that it was a “shame” that Hungary could not bring legal action against it.

“The European Parliament has proven again that it is a super too long awaited and over-political organization (governed) by the extremist extremist, liberal and very aggressive,” he said.

While Hungary has called on the European Union to also declare an anti -terrorist organization, Szijjártó told Fox News Digital that he had “less hope” than the EU will act.

While Hungary is confronted with challenges in Europe, there is an improved relationship with the United States, Szijjártó greeting it as a “golden age”.

“Under the Democratic Administration, we, the Hungarians, were enemies. There was a very hostile approach to the Democratic administration,” said Szijjártó, referring to the White House of former President Joe Biden. “And since President Trump has been in office, this thing has completely changed, completely … We live essentially the golden age of this American-hydrating relationship.”

Hungary also supports Trump’s call on larger NATO expenses while the Alliance is facing renewed pressure on recent incursions in Denmark, Estonia and Poland. Some incidents have been linked to Russia.

Speaking with Fox News Digital, Szijjártó underlined the point of view of NATO of Hungary as “a very important pillar of European security”.

“We hope that NATO will further strengthen in the future. We agree with President Trump’s approach in favor of increasing the share of defense of allies GDP,” said Szijjártó.

In the midst of increasing tensions between NATO and Russia, Hungary is particularly aware of the risk lands of confrontation between the two parties.

Hungary shares a border with Ukraine and has witnessed the impact of the kyiv war with Russia. Szijjártó warned that a confrontation between NATO and Russia could trigger the Second World War. However, Hungary considers Trump as a probable peacemaker in the region.

“President Trump is the only hope of making peace,” Szijjártó told Fox News Digital. He continued by saying that the American talks in Russia were to continue to bring the world to a stable place.

“Whenever there is a high-level civilized commitment of Russia-US, the world’s security situation is improving. Whenever there is (a) the lack of American-Russia talks, the global security situation is deteriorating,” said Szijjártó.
