A Senate Democrat has torn President Donald Trump for a recently published service note that detailed mass layoffs in the event of closure, and accused the president of engaging in the “Mafia style blackmail”.
Senator Chris Van Hollen, D-MD., Invaded the Memo of the Management and Budget Office (OMB) sent to federal agencies this week which described a plan aimed at reducing employees through the government beyond those who are generally on leave.
While the Chamber adopted a short -term financing extension last week, the Senate Republicans and Democrats disagree on the bill. The deadline to finance the government is September 30, and so far, no progress has been made to reach an agreement to keep the lights on.
Van Hollen accused that Trump “be engaged in Mafia style blackmail, of their threats which ultimately harmed the American people”, and compared the note of the Mamo to the actions taken by the technological billionaire Elon Musk and his ministry of government efficiency earlier this year, which led to tens of thousands of federal employees, or dismissed or encouraged.

“He threatens to double the stranded actions of Elon Musk and his chainsaw – taking care of the patriotic civil servants who provide the Americans with critical services – although we have to re -hire many of these workers after the Americans experienced the negative impact of these cups,” he said.
“These dedicated workers have nothing to do with the current political and political disputes that brought us to the edge of a closure,” continued Van Hollen. “These threats are not only an attack on the services and the advantages of the Americans, they are also probably illegal. We will retaliate with all the tools we have.”
Van Hollen’s ire intervenes while the Trump administration is preparing for mass fire beyond the standard content in a closure of the government.

The MEMO of the CMOB, obtained by Fox News Digital, directed that in the event that legislators cannot adopt an extension of financing, or continuous resolution (CR) by the deadline, agencies should “take advantage of this opportunity to consider a reduction in force (RIF) for all employees” in programs which have no other source of available funding and which do not behave with Trump priorities.
“RIF’s opinions will be added to any notice of guaranteed leave due to the forfeiture of the appropriation,” said the service note, and would be issued “that the employee is except or conticulated during the credit period”.

Legislators are expected to return to Washington on Monday, just a day before the deadline to finance the government. The Democrats of the Senate blocked the CR of the GOP last week and asked for a seat at the table to negotiate with the Republican leaders of the Congress and Trump.

However, the Republicans have rejected the counter-proposal of Democrats as inserted, and are not willing to move on a list of laundry launched in their CR, in particular by definitively extending subsidies to the Act respecting affordable care, by repealing the “Big Beau Bill” health care section of Trump, and the funding for financing canceled for the NPR and the PBS of Trump.
A meeting between the head of the Senate minority, Chuck Schumer, DN.Y., the minority head of the Hakeem Jeffries room, DN.Y., and Trump was fixed for Thursday, but the president canceled and accused the democrats of “ridiculous” requests in their counter-offer in the plan of the GOP.
