Vice-president JD Vance spent most of her speech by North Carolina on Wednesday talking about public security and supporting the police, but the most viral moment of the day came from a quick exchange with a young supporter in the crowd.
A boy near the press area called during a question and answer session and Vance invited him to speak.
“I jumped school today,” said the boy named Henry. “I was wondering if I could have a photo with you.”
Vance smiled and signaled to Henry to the scene while the play bursts into cheers.

Vance replied: “Henry said:” I jumped school. Can I have a photo with you? “Well, I guess I have to have an excuse to jump school, so I could also have a photo with Henry.”
Henry went to the stage in a Red Trump hat and an American flag t-shirt. They hugged their hands and Henry released his phone. Vance leaned for the selfie while the crowd roared. The vice-president gave him a quick tape on the back and returned to the microphone.
Vance kept the easy tone for a beat and joked saying that the next request could be a journalist asking for a photo. He said he was not holding for questions so easily and returned to politics and press.

The rest of Vance’s remarks focused on the law and order and support for the police. He called to keep the violent offenders behind bars and congratulated local officers.
He returned later to the moment when he ended. “Henry, I hope you had the photo you needed,” he said, drawing another series of applause.
