The 39-page trial, filed with the State Court of the Nebraska, says that the company has marketed its cameras as “private by design” and safe for places such as children’s rooms, while concealing that the devices are based on a Chinese company sanctioned by the United States for national security and human rights violations.
Lorex did not immediately respond to the request for comments from Fox News Digitial.

According to Hilgers, Lorex devices depend on the technology of Zhejiang Dahua Technology Co., a Chinese surveillance company legally required to help the Beijing intelligence device.
“The Chinese Communist Party (CPC) is a direct threat to American security, including through market players who create or operate security to American consumers,” Hilgers told Fox News Digital. “This is a national problem, and we direct the fight at Nebraska against these companies which allow the influence and monitoring of the CCP.”

The complaint notes that the Lorex 2K double-objective interior camera, sold by major American retailers such as Costco, Best Buy, Kohl’s and Home Depot, closely reflects the “H5D-5F” and “H3D-3F” models of Dahua.

Hilgers said Lorex markets its surveillance products for use in highly private areas, including children’s rooms, without warning families of potential security risks. “This marketing is misleading because the Nebraskans are not warned of security risks,” he said. “Regarding the products that can be used to monitor children and inside Nebraska houses, this deception is both alarming and unacceptable.”
Hilgers is not the only one to ring the alarm. Others in the security space claim that Lorex products represent a broader national threat.
Michael Lucci, CEO of Armor State, was the main voice that pushed states to act. “Lorex products should not simply say” Made in China “, they should say” watch from China “,” said Lucci in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“The marketing of these cameras as a private by design ” Although all the data is returned by Beijing is not only a false advertisement, it is a direct threat to individual privacy and US national security,” he added.
The legislators of the two parties have long stressed that the Chinese government operates educational exchanges, research partnerships and commercial investments in the United States as coverage of spy activities. These warnings have intensified in recent years in the midst of an in -depth examination of Beijing influence operations on American soil.
