The candidate for the New York Democrat Town Hall, Zohran Mamdani, announced on Monday that he withdraws from a next WABC town hall to protest the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel.

The Town Hall, organized by the New York subsidiary of ABC News, was scheduled for Thursday, a week after a Disney spokesman told Fox News Digital: “Jimmy Kimmel Live will be preempted indefinitely.”

“It is not the government’s work to intimidate the guests of the air talk shows,” Mamdani told journalists on New York Roosevelt Island on Monday. “It is not the government’s work to tell us what we can and cannot speak.”

The White House retaliated against Mamdani’s “authoritarian” accusations on Mamdani on Mamdani. “It is not surprising that the little communist is too afraid to defend his absurd political positions on live television,” said White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson, at Fox News Digital.

“We cannot understand this moment of authoritarianism as coming only from the White House, while it is also characterized by the cowardice of those in response,” said Mamdani on Monday.

Mamdani pronounced his remarks to Franklin D. Roosevelt Freedoms State Park on the island of Roosevelt, where he invoked the discourse on the state of the Union of the former president of 1941, when the United States was on the verge of support for the Second World War.

“A moment similar to now, when tyranny spread around the world,” said Mamdani. “And he articulated a thesis of democracy built around four freedoms: freedom of expression and expression, freedom of worship, freedom of need, freedom of fear. And all our freedoms are currently attacked by this federal administration.”

Mamdani said that Trump’s “authoritarian” administration had “once again displayed, once again, an attack on the first amendment”.

“ABC withdrawn Jimmy Kimmel from the air after the FCC sought to put them pressure. And the mother companies, Nexstar and Sinclair, made the decision of their merger, the factors they consider as part of this, before these same freedoms and this very first amendment,” said Mamdani.

The hope of a 33 -year -old mayor said that his withdrawal from the WABC City Hall is not an “indictment from the local affiliate or journalists who work hard, but rather in response to business leaders who have put their results before their responsibility in the maintenance of press freedom.”

“We live in a time when Donald Trump’s actions are those that determine if we can appreciate what we are holding for so many years,” said Mamdani.
