A viral video showing a candidate of the Democratic Congress of Illinois put on the ground during an anti-ice demonstration in the suburbs of Chicago triggered an online debate, the people on the left expressing indignation towards ice, and the conservatives put squarely to demonstrators disrupting the operations of application of the law.

Kat Abughazaleh, an activist, a former journalist, and now a Democratic candidate for the congress, published the video on her X account on Friday, saying: “This is what it looks like when the ice violates our rights to the first amendment.”

The video has shown armed and masked federal officials removing abughazaleh, who also has a mask, from the front of a glacial vehicle that it seemed to block.

Other agents can be seen to lead Abughazaleh and a group of demonstrators to get out of the vehicle. An agent pushes Abughazaleh, who, despite the resistance, stands out in the street.

Another angle of the incident shows that Aughazaleh got up immediately and loaded the agents, who repels it again. We can hear other demonstrators narrating the agents and screaming explains.

In another post X, Abughazaleh wrote: “What ice has made me a violent abuse of power – and it is still nothing compared to what they do to immigrant communities.”

Speaking with a journalist after the incident, Abughazaleh said: “We have no weapons. We have signs and songs and songs, and they treat us as if it was a war zone.”

She said that the vehicle she was trying to block contained another demonstrator who was arrested earlier in the morning.

“Ice entered and tried to drive the car through us. They almost overturned someone. We did not move, we stayed strong, and it was then that they took out the pepper balls. It was then that they took the tear gas,” she said.

In response, the Deputy Secretary of Internal Security, Tricia McLaughlin, accused Abughazaleh of having asked for her campaign by trying to “hinder justice”.

McLaughlin told Fox News Digital: “This Avitée cable television candidate is so desperate for her renowned 15 minutes that she will go so far as to put our police in danger and hinder justice.”

Others on social networks have condemned Abughazaleh for trying to interfere in an operation to apply the law.

The conservative commentator Greg Price said that it was the actions of Abughazaleh who made him be “thrown on the ground”.

“The empire of a federal ice operation is a crime,” he wrote.

Another commentator, Paul Szypula, suggested that the government “stops it immediately and pursues it for its many federal crimes”, saying: “Make a legal example of this maniac”.

Local outlet ABC 7 said three demonstrators had been arrested on Friday in BroadView, Illinois, after federal officials clashed with a group of demonstrators preventing ice vehicles from entering and leaving the installation. The point of sale indicated that at one point, federal officials have deployed riots of smoke control of the riots to repel the crowd.

The point of sale said the demonstrators planned to continue the demonstrations every week while the Trump administration accelerates its “Midway Blitz operation” to suppress illegal immigrant crimes in the Chicago region.

An ICE spokesperson also commented on the incident, saying to Fox News Digital: “Once an activist, still a activist.”

“The irresponsible behavior of Kat Abughazaleh encouraging violence and encouraging anarchy puts a selfish advertising on the security of officers, employees of the establishment and prisoners,” said the spokesman.

Fox News Digital contacted the abughazaleh comment campaign, but did not immediately receive an answer.
