President Donald Trump has renewed his criticisms against former President Joe Biden and his administration on the use of an autopen to sign important orders – including pardons – during Biden’s mandate at the White House.
Trump was the subject of the Autopen Biden’s use for months, saying that thousands of pardons signed by Biden were zero and that the former president did not know what documents he signed by the automated system.
“He was illegally used. He never gave orders,” Trump told journalists on Thursday during a trip to the United Kingdom “he never told them what to do. And I guess the only one he signed, or one of the few he signed, was the grace to his son.”

A spokesperson for Biden did not immediately respond to a request for comments from Fox News Digital.
A White House official previously told Fox News Digital that Trump uses his hand signature for each legally operational or binding document. Despite this, Trump admitted that he used an automatic for letters.
Meanwhile, the Biden chief of staff issued the final approval of several high -level preemptive pardons in the last days of Biden in office, reported the New York Times in July.
Although Biden would have made the decision concerning the pardons at a meeting, the chief of staff of Biden, Jeff Zients, is the one who gave the final approval of the use of the Autopen – at least in the case of the former chief medical councilor of the president, reported Times, and former president of the chiefs of joint staff, General Mark Milley.

Despite this, Biden told Times that he had made all the leniency decisions of his own will.
Meanwhile, Trump’s comments came while Zients should appear before the chamber’s surveillance committee on Thursday for his investigation into Biden’s mental acuity. Part of this survey also consists in examining whether the former president was fully aware of the leniency orders and the executive actions he signed using the autopen.
Biden granted a total of 4,245 leniency acts during his administration, 96% of which were granted in his last months of power between October 2024 and January 2025, according to the Pew Research Center.

Unlike a stamp or digitized printing of a signature, the autopen has the capacity to contain various types of pens, from a ball point to a permanent marker, according to the descriptions of the autopen machines to sell online.
