On Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted along the Bippartisan lines to file a resolution to censor the representative Ilhan Omar, D-minn., On comments on Charlie Kirk.
Four Republicans of the House voted with democrats to deposit the legislation, effectively preventing him from receiving his own vote on the scale of the Chamber. A vote at the table is a procedural mechanism allowing members of the Chamber to vote against the consideration of a bill without having to vote on the bill itself.
The measure was blocked in a narrow vote from 214 to 213. The four Republicans who voted to deposit the measure are the representatives of Mike Flood, R-N-NEB., Tom McClintock, R-Calif., Jeff Hurd, R-Colo., And Cory Mills, R-Fla.

McClintock told Fox News Digital that, even if he condemned Omar’s response to Kirk’s death, he voted against the future with censorship on the basis of reasons for the first amendment.
“The comments of Ilhan Omar concerning the assassination of Charlie Kirk are vile and despicable. They deserve the hardest critical of each man and woman of good will. But this disgusting and hateful discourse is always a speech and is protected by our first amendment,” he said.
“Censorship is an official punishment of the house and we have already gone too far on this path. Omar’s comments were not made in the house and even if they were, they were not breaking the rules of the house. A free society depends on the toleration of any discourse – even hate speech – entrusting that the best way to sort the harm is to put the two side by side and trust people to know.”
Hurd replied in the same way: “Ilhan Omar’s comments on the assassination of Charlie Kirk, as well as his comments on those who supported Charlie, are macabre and evil. I condemn them completely.”
“But I voted against today’s censorship because he tried to strip another member of the Congress of Committees and to silence him for having made the exercise the right of the first amendment to freedom of expression. The right answer to a reprehensible discourse as is not silence: it is more speech.
Mulls had faced his own reprisals censorship led by the progressives of the Chamber, but this effort was abandoned when Omar censorship failed.
However, he cited the first amendment on X when he also explained his vote. “The 7 articles and 27 modifications of our Constitution are not only followed when it serves your objective … We cannot love or agree with what someone says, but that does not mean that we must refuse their protected right,” displayed Mills.
Flood told Fox News Digital that the appropriate appeal would refer to Omar to the Chamber’s ethics committee before censorship.
“Ilhan Omar’s statements and publications on social networks are reprehensible and should be returned to the ethical committee. The appropriate time to consider a censure motion would be after ethics examines his conduct,” said Flood.
The representative Nancy Mace, RS.C., moved Tuesday to force a vote on the resolution by introducing it as “privileged”, a mechanism which obliges leaders in the Chamber to cope with a measure within two legislative days.
This is one of the continuous spinoffs of Omar’s remarks made a few days after Kirk’s assassination, which the Conservatives accused of having disparaged the heritage of the conservative activist.
