The resolution of censorship of Ilhan Omar blocked like 4 Republicans of the Chamber vote with DEMS

McClintock told Fox News Digital that, even if he condemned Omar’s response to Kirk’s death, he voted against the future with censorship on the basis of reasons for the first amendment.

“The comments of Ilhan Omar concerning the assassination of Charlie Kirk are vile and despicable. They deserve the hardest critical of each man and woman of good will. But this disgusting and hateful discourse is always a speech and is protected by our first amendment,” he said.

“Censorship is an official punishment of the house and we have already gone too far on this path. Omar’s comments were not made in the house and even if they were, they were not breaking the rules of the house. A free society depends on the toleration of any discourse – even hate speech – entrusting that the best way to sort the harm is to put the two side by side and trust people to know.”

Hurd replied in the same way: “Ilhan Omar’s comments on the assassination of Charlie Kirk, as well as his comments on those who supported Charlie, are macabre and evil. I condemn them completely.”

“But I voted against today’s censorship because he tried to strip another member of the Congress of Committees and to silence him for having made the exercise the right of the first amendment to freedom of expression. Mace also accused Omar of having republished a video that said: “Do not be fooled, these people do not give a single s — About Charlie Kirk. They simply use his death to advance their Christo-Fascist program.”

Other progressives have jumped towards the defense of Omar, including the representative Delia Ramirez, d-ill., Who posted on X: “Babe, it is not direct quotes from Ilhan Omar. According to APA, if you use a direct quotation, it must support your assertion.

This is one of the many measures targeting Omar on his comments.
