The students defy Charlie Kirk Tribute to the UNC Wilmington campus during the vigil

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

First on Fox: Students from a University of North Carolina have degraded a tribute in honor of Charlie Kirk’s life and, in the past two days, they harassed students who met on the site, which prompted the calls of university students to do more.

While students met to honor Kirk in a candlelit vigil at the University of North Wilmington on Monday evening, the video obtained by Fox News Digital showed a student harassing Kirk supporters and heading towards the Grand Rocher painted by honoring Kirk and simulating the buckling on it.

“Can someone become a lighter,” said the student. Another student who seemed to be with her said: “Freedom of expression”.

When a supporter of Kirk said, “Jesus loves you”, the second woman turned around and pointed out her sweatshirt, who seemed to represent satanic imagery.

“Take a look, who is it?” The woman with the sweatshirt said before moving away.

In another video, taken the next day, a student can be seen by pouring painting on the tribute, which was painted on a rock by Kirk supporters.

Reagan Faulkner, president of the UNCW section of the Republicans of the College, told Fox News Digital that a vigil had taken place Monday evening around the rock, which is often painted by the students to promote various causes, with courtesy by understanding that it is intact for 24 hours.

Faulkner said they expected 250 people to attend, but 750 to 1,000 finally appeared.

“It was beautiful,” said Faulkner. “Absolutely honored Charlie in a wonderful way.”

Before the expiration of courtesy 24 hours a day, said Faulkner, students who oppose Kirk began to threaten to paint on the wall, from 6 am on Tuesday. Faulkner says that rock was vandalized for the first time around 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

“We told him that he had to wait until 5 years,” said Faulkner. “He said,” It’s just courtesy. I have nothing to do for you fascists. “He insulted one of our soldiers and called us Nazis.

Faulkner told Fox News Digital than to be harassed, some of his friends were “checked from the body” and had been poured over them and that the police told them that they had not reached the level of an arrest.

“Tuesday morning, the UNCW is aware of a situation involving the Spirit Rock,” the school said in a statement. “According to the university police, the students surrounding the rock were approached by students who wanted to repaint the rock. It started as a conversation but became conflicting when the students who wanted to revise the rock poured painting on the rock.

“Some students tried to prevent this action and, in the process, some of them have been splashed with paint. No arrest was made in relation to this incident,” he continued. “UNCW police advised students who spoke concerning themselves concerning the potential assaults to submit a police report.

“The UNCW is proud to serve as a public university, open to the community and is committed to maintaining freedom of expression in accordance with applicable laws and policies. In addition, UNCW will encourage and expect students, teachers and staff to promote a respectful campus community.”

Faulkner, who is also secretary of the USA Turning Point Chapter from USA, said, in the end, for the sake of their security and the situation, students supporting Kirk stopped defending painting.

“We always think it is worth getting up, but instead of painting on it, we choose to respond differently,” said Faukner. “We bring music of worship, signs that say:” I am Charlie Kirk “and we pray and sing. We want to live as Charlie – spread the Gospel, respect freedom of expression and be always present.

“None of us retaliated. I believe that God has given us courage and peace. We want a conversation, not a violence. We want to take the microphone where Charlie has left it, but the other side does not want. They say that they do not want a division or violence, but then actions like this occur. Our beach is – we are open, but they do not speak.”

Faulkner told Fox News Digital that she was not satisfied with how the university had managed the situation and that university officials “must do more to protect us.”

“I know that, legally, the people who were taken in the cross -fires, our members who were taken in a cross fire, have the legal right to bring charges, and I do not think it was just for Mid to tell them that they did not do it,” said Faukner.

“And I sent an email to the administration last Wednesday when Charlie died that he was brought to my attention that many of our members do not feel safe on the campus, especially after what happened. And I was told that you are perfectly safe. I think it’s just, I think that the part that blame it on us is shameful.”

Another student who spoke to Fox News Digital also expressed the feeling that the school should have done more to prevent the situation.

“Many students here, including myself, are angry, but at the same time, our hearts hurt for these lost souls,” said Brendan Chafin, student at UNCW and member of TPUSA and the Republicans of the College.

“We just want the school to see the challenges that Christian conservative students face and take action against students who defeated the memorial and conservative students assaulted. This must be done immediately to show that hatred and violence against Christian conservatives do not belong to campus or in our society.”

The conservatives have held vigilles for Kirk across the country in recent days in honor of the life and inheritance of the conservative activist through watching on university campuses and in public spaces.

At the same time, conservative influencers on social networks have published examples of students, employees, teachers and politicians who disregarded Kirk or suggested that he deserved to be murdered, which led to dozens of layoffs.
