Saying that he has “not yet done”, the Democratic Governor Tim Walz, the candidate for the Democrat Vice-President of 2024, launched a campaign for a third term on Tuesday as a governor of Minnesota.

“We have made historical progress in our state, but we haven’t finished it yet,” Walz wrote in an article on social networks.

And taking a blow to President Donald Trump and his administration, Walz said in a campaign launch video that “I will never stop fighting to protect us from chaos, corruption and cruelty when leaving Washington”.

“I saw how we help each other through difficult times,” added Walz. “And my boy, we have seen terrible moments this year. My heart is broken and angry with the beautiful people we lost for armed violence. But it is in these moments that we must come together. We cannot lose hope because I have seen what we can do when we work together.”

Vice-president Kamala Harris chose Walz as a running mate after replacing President Joe Biden at the top of the National Democrats ticket last summer.

By targeting Trump and his running mate, now the president of Vice, JD Vance, Walz criticized the GOP ticket as “just bizarre”.

But Trump ended up sweeping the seven main states of the battlefield during the presidential election from last year to win back the White House.

This year, Walz maintained his verbal criticism of Trump while the governor continued to build his national profile.

But the 61 -year -old governor was strongly criticized by the Republicans after comparing immigration and customs’ application agents (ICE) to the Gestapo of Nazi Germany. The governor was called by the Republicans of Congress at a June hearing, but he refused to apologize.

Walz, a former high school teacher and football coach, is often mentioned as a candidate for the Democratic presidential of 2028, but he told Axios this summer that he would not seek the White House if he presented himself to re -election as a governor in 2026.

His three months as a Harris running mate put Walz under the brilliance of national political spotlights and made new control on his file as governor, and before that as a member of the Congress, and his treatment of violent protests after the murder in 2020 of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

He was also criticized for having exaggerated his rank during his years with the Minnesota National Guard, and was for lack of having left the army to appear before the Congress before his unit was deployed in the war in Iraq.

Walz was elected governor for the first time in 2018, winning 11 percentage points. He won his re -election in 2022 by a margin of 8 points.

But the story will be rooted when he runs in 2026. No Governor of Minnesota has won a third consecutive term since the State has gone to four years ago.

“Governor Tim Walz was a daring leader for Minnesota, and we are delighted to run again to continue to deliver families through his condition. Governor Walz is fiercely dedicated to improving life to Minnesota, reducing taxes for the middle class, ranging from spending and unnecessary, and reducing the cost of prescription drugs,” said Gov.

But the director of communications of the association of republican governors, Courtney Alexander, argued in a statement that “while Tim Walz spends his time raising funds with the most liberal donors in the country and pushing the disastrous policies of national democrats, Minnesota suffers. Minnesotans deserve a Tim Walz.”

The former director of companies and veteran of the army Kendall Quals and doctor and former senator from the Scott Jensen State, candidate for the post of Governor of the GOP 2022, are among the candidates who present themselves to the republican appointment.
