A boy from the California beach in the 1930s, Walter Frederick Morrison, saw huge opportunities in the practice of playing time crushing him with pieces in the air.
This original vision has led a global feeling that is explored in detail in a new Special Fox Nation.

Morrison, with Warren Franscioni, transformed occasional activity into a game, developing a plastic disk version in 1948.

The invention had an aerodynamic profile on the outside edge nicknamed “the Morrison slope”.
He helped the toy to lift during the flight, according to the same source.

The Wham-O toy founders bought the rights in 1955, officially appointing the “Frisbee” flying saucer in 1958.
“It was an instant phenomenon,” said Tristan Lin, brand director for Wham-O, at Fox News Digital.

“Before knowing it, each college in America played Frisbee.”
The game climbed in popularity, with the inventor of Wham-O toys Ed Headrick and other enthusiasts founded at the Frisbee Association In 1967.

A Frisbee golf tournament followed a year later in California, while Ultimate Frisbee was later invented in New Jersey.
Finally, Headrick left Wham-O to start “Disc Golf”.

Today, the Professional Disc Golf Association is organizing tournaments with participants from around the world.
As Smithsonian Magazine Noted: “The flying disc has had humble beginnings but has since become an international phenomenon”.
