Pritzker says that the rhetoric of Trump “ Foment ” Political violence after the death of Charlie Kirk

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, a democrat, condemned political acts of violence on Wednesday following the deadly death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, although the governor argued that President Donald Trump often ignites political violence.

Kirk, the 31-year-old co-founder of Turning Point USA, was shot dead at an event on the University of Utah Valley campus on Wednesday afternoon. He was transported to a hospital in critical condition before he was said later dead.

“I want to express my sympathy to Charlie Kirk’s family and Charlie Kirk,” Pritzker told journalists. “I do not know if it is political violence because I do not know who did it … But I will say that political violence has unfortunately come in this country, and we have seen the shootings, the murders in Minnesota – we have seen other political violence occur in other states.”

“And I would just say that it must stop, and I think there are people who have fomeded it in this country,” he continued. “I think that the rhetoric of the president often walks him. We saw the rioters of January 6 who clearly sparked a new era of political violence and the president, what did he forgive them.

The governor referred to an incident in June in which Vance Boelter was accused of having murdered the former president of Minnesota House, Melissa Hortman, Democrat, her husband, Mark and their dog at their home in Minneapolis.

Boelter was also accused of having shot the senator from the state of Minnesota, John Hoffman, also a democrat, and his wife, Yvette, and of having tried to shoot their daughter, Hope.

The incidents cited by Pritzker are only a few of several acts of political violence in recent years, because Trump has experienced two assassination attempts last year, and Paul Pelosi, the husband of representative Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Was attacked with a hammer in 2022.

“Person in this country should not have to fear armed violence, whether in class in high school or attend an event on a university campus,” wrote Pritzker later on X. “I firmly condemn the shooting that killed Charlie Kirk today at the University of Utah Valley. May his memory be a blessing.”

Responding to the Governor’s comments to journalists, the former Republican Senator of the Illinois State, Darren Bailey, who would also appear to the post of governor against Pritzker in 2026, said that the democrat “pointed at the fingers” to Trump and the rioters of January 6 rather than to simply condemn the violence against Kirk.

“It is not a leadership – it is cowardice. The Illinois deserves leaders who assume responsibility, who defend freedom of expression and who defend what is good. Unfortunately, JB Pritzker has repeatedly shown that he was not up to the task,” added Bailey.
