Vigils held nationally after the death of the conservative activist Charlie Kirk

Vieilles took place across the country following the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk during a UTAH event on Wednesday.
Kirk, the 31-year-old co-founder of USA Turning Point, was shot dead on the University of Utah Valley campus on Wednesday afternoon. He was transported to a hospital in critical condition before he was said later dead.
Politicians, religious leaders, conservative militant colleagues and others cried Kirk’s death, some announcing vigilles to oppose political violence following his murder.
The chapters of the USA turning point campus in colleges across the country organized watches on Wednesday evening for the founder of the organization.

“In response to Charlie Kirk’s reprehensible and insane murder, we meet this evening in Westlake Park in Seattle at 7:30 p.m. for a period of prayer, worship and lonely while we take a position against the insane political and religious violence in America,” said Russell Johnson, the pastor in pursuit of the state of Washington, announcing X
Representative Ryan Zinke, R-MT, said there would be a prayer vigil in a church in Capitol Hill on Wednesday evening.
“I invite the Montanans to join us in prayer and the spirit by praying for Charlie, his family and our divided nation. We must heal,” he wrote on X.

In Arizona, the Catholic group of Catholics said that a vigil of the rosary would be held on Wednesday evening.
“The local Catholic community of Charlie Kirk gathers to pray to the rosary for the eternal rest of his soul,” wrote the group on Instagram.
“Charlie was our friend,” added the post. “His family is our neighbors. He attended our church. We loved him and America also loves him. It is time for us to pray and ask Notre Dame to introduce his soul into heaven.”

There was a candlelit vigil in Idaho to honor Kirk’s life.
“It was a moving moment of solidarity that offered the comfort and support that many of us need at the moment. Please continue to keep Charlie’s family in your prayers,” wrote Idaho Freedom Foundation on X.
New York Yankees had a moment of silence before Wednesday evening’s match against the Detroit Tigers to honor Kirk.
“Before this evening’s match, we held a moment of silence in Memoriam by Charlie Kirk. Kirk founded the group of young activists” Turning Point USA “and had become an element of university campuses,” said the team on X.

Kevin Smith, founder of the conservative media company The Loud Majority, also announced a vigil scheduled for Saturday in New York.
President Donald Trump, officials of his administration, other American politicians on both sides of the aisle, foreign leaders and sports personalities were one of those who came out in Kirk mourning and condemning acts of political violence.
“The great, and even legendary, Charlie Kirk, died. No one understood or had better young people in the United States of America than Charlie. He was loved and admired by all, especially me, and now he is no longer with us,” wrote Trump on Truth Social. “Melania and my sympathies go to her beautiful wife Erika and the family. Charlie, we love you!”

California Governor Gavin Newsom, a democrat, said on X that the attack on Kirk was “disgusting, vile and reprehensible”, adding: “To the United States of America, we have to reject political violence in each form”.
“Charlie Kirk was murdered for having told the truth and defended freedom,” said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on X. “A friend at the heart of the Lion of Israel, he fought the lies and held up for Judeo-Christian civilization.”
“Condolences to his family and young people in this country,” said Bruce Pearl, male basketball coach of the University of Auburn, on X. “Many in our student body in Auburn are horrified this evening, you, young patriots who love our country like Charlie. For the moment, we are better made to return this country.”
Kirk is survived by his wife, Erika Lane Frantzve, and two young children.
