A moment of silence for Charlie Kirk on the floor of the house transformed on Wednesday into a cries match after a republican representative demanded that a prayer said aloud for the curator who was killed earlier during the day.

While the legislators stood silently in a room in the House of Representatives mainly filled for a moment of silence for the curator who was shot dead at the University of Utah Valley during an event on the campus on Wednesday, the republican representative of Colorado, Lauren Boebert, demanded a spoken prayer.

“Please go up a moment of prayer for Charlie Kirk and his family,” said Chamber Mike Johnson. The legislators forced for several seconds, before returning to a regular order. However, once it started to happen, Boebert spoke.

“Silent prayers get silent results,” said Boebert. You could also be heard asking for a prayer to say “aloud”.

The comments of the Colorado Republican led to cries of democrats. Some would have started to shout how the Republicans had ignored a school shooting that also occurred on Wednesday, according to the New York Times.

Meanwhile, representative Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., Stopped himself and began to shout. “You all caused it,” she said.

President Johnson tried to repress the crowd several times, banging the hammer and asking for order. Finally, he said, “We will join the prayer just after that, ok?”

Kirk was shot dead in the neck while speaking to a large crowd at the University of Utah Valley, located in Orem, Utah, in a tent in the middle of the school quad. Kirk was transported to a local hospital, but was then declared dead. He was at university for an event as part of USA Turning Point “American Comeback Tour” which was launched this spring.

Kirk was the founder of Turning Point USA, created in 2012. The political non -profit organization built its name by engaging young people on university campuses on politics. Kirk often went around the country on campuses to speak at events.
