Charlie Kirk shot the University of Utah Valley while Utah politicians call for prayers

After the conservative co-founder of Turning Point USA Charlie Kirk was shot dead at the University of Utah Valley, the governor of Utah Spencer Cox called on the public to pray for the father of two 31 years old and his family.

“We need your prayers for Charlie,” said Cox on Wednesday, a republican.

Senator John Curtis, Rutah, said his office separately strives to collect information on the attack.

“We pray for his safety and the well-being of everyone has touched,” said Curtis.

“I am grateful for the rapid response of the police and the first speakers who work to secure the campus.”

The Curtis counterpart, Senator Mike Lee, Rutah, added: “It’s a good time to pray.”

The vice-president of the GOP of Maison Blake Moore, Rutah, added that his office also followed heartbreaking events.

“My team and I follow the tragic shoot at Utah Valley University and are looking for more information because they are available,” said Moore.

“We pray for Charlie Kirk, his family, the students and all those affected.”

The representative Burgess Owens, Rutah, described the situation as “horrible”, adding, “we will not tolerate this in Utah”.

The former New York plane was taken over by representative Mike Kennedy, who represents the city of Orem where the University of Utah Valley is located.

“I am devastated to learn that Charlie Kirk was killed during an event in UVU,” Kennedy said in a statement.

“We condemn this insane act of violence. Praying for Charlie and all the people affected. My team and I monitor the situation of updates.”

The representative Celeste Maloy, the other remaining deputy for the state of Beehive, asked for prayers and declared that the situation “does not reflect who we are in Utah”.

On the east coast, where two governor’s key elections will be held in just over a month, candidates on both sides have spoken against political violence and said Kirk and his family deserve the nation’s thoughts.

“Please keep Charlie Kirk in your prayers,” said Lieutenant-Governor of Virginie WinSome Earle-Sears.

“It is a husband, a young father and someone who cares deeply about our country. Praying for him and his family,” said the retired navy – who presents himself for the governor.

His opponent, former representative Abigail Spanberger, said that she and her husband Adam prayed for Kirk’s family.

“Political violence of all kinds is unacceptable,” said the former Democratic MP.

In the north, the Republican candidate of the Republican Governor of New Jersey, Jack Ciattarelli, said that there should be “zero tolerance for political violence and a severe punishment for the authors of the latter”.

“Pray for Charlie Kirk and his young family,” said Ciattarelli.

The opponent Mikie Sherrill, currently a member of the Democrat Congress, described the shooting of “appalling”.

“I pray for him and his family. Political violence is dangerous, non-American and has no place in our democracy,” she said.

“My thoughts are with Charlie Kirk, his relatives and the community of the University of Utah Valley. The author of this odious act should be brought to justice,” said Sherill on X.
