Republicans, Democrats condemn political violence after Charlie Kirk’s shooting

The legislators quickly sounded after the conservative activist Charlie Kirk was killed during an event on his “American tour” at the University of Utah Valley on Wednesday afternoon.

All Americans should pray for the recovery of Charlie Kirk and hold the whole UVU community in our hearts while they support the trauma of this armed violence,” Pelosi wrote in a statement.

Ellen Treanor, associated vice-president of strategic communications management at the University of Utah Valley, initially told Fox News that a person of interest was in detention after the Kirk shooting. They were then released, police said.

Police do not currently have a suspect in detention, according to an updated declaration.

A White House official, on the other hand, told Fox News that the tragic event was watched in the situation room and by Secretary of State Marco Rubio in his role as national security advisor.
