The White House revealed on Tuesday that President Donald Trump “immediately directed” his special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff to inform Qatar of “the imminent attack” by Israel.

The soldiers of Israel targeted senior leaders from Hamas to Doha, launching what he described as a “precise strike”. Khalil Al-Hayya and Zaher Jabarin were the two targets of the explosion that rocked the capital of the Middle East, the Fox News chief correspondent said on Tuesday, citing information on Tuesday.

“This morning, the Trump administration was informed by the American army that Israel was attacking Hamas, which was unfortunately located in a section of Doha, the capital of Qatar,” said the white house press secretary Karoline Leavitt. “Unilaterally bombing in Qatar, a sovereign nation and a nearby ally that works very hard and courageously take risks with us to negotiate peace does not advance the objectives of Israel or America.”

“However, the elimination of Hamas, who took advantage of the misery of those who live in Gaza, is a worthy objective. President Trump immediately ordered the special envoy of Witkoff to inform the Qataris of the imminent attack, which he did,” added Leavitt.

“The president considers Qatar as a strong ally and a friend of the United States and feels very bad about the site of this attack,” said Leavitt.

Leavitt also revealed that Trump had spoken to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after the strike.

“The Prime Minister told President Trump that he wanted to make peace and quickly. President Trump thinks that this unhappy incident could serve as a opportunity for peace,” Leavitt said during the White House press briefing. “The president also spoke to the Emir and the Prime Minister of Qatar and thanked them for their support and friendship for our country. He assured them that such a thing will not happen again on their soil.”

Witkoff and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were present for the appeal with the Qataris, said Leavitt.

“The president always clarified that he wanted peace in the Middle East, just as he looked for this and accomplished it during his first mandate. He awaits all our allies and friends of the region – which includes Qatar and Israel – to also seek peace,” also said Leavitt. “And he wants to see this happen. And he works with all our allies in the region to do so.”
