First on Fox: Senator Josh Hawley, R-MO., Presents on Tuesday a legislation which would oblige federal buildings across the country to show in evidence the national motto of America, “in God we trust”.

If it is adopted by the Chamber and the Senate and signed by President Donald Trump, the bill would direct the head of the US General Services Administration to ensure that all federal buildings “record or display” the national currency within one year.

“Our national motto dates back to the time of President Lincoln. The congress adopted” in God, we trust ‘as our national motto in 1956 during the rise of impious communism, and it remains our national motto today, “Hawley told Fox News Digital in a statement.

“In God we Trust Act” will guarantee that the federal government-as well as the American people for whom it works-never forget the ultimate source of freedom and prosperity that this country enjoys. While the United States is preparing to celebrate its 250th anniversary, this bill would restore faith in its legitimate place in government rooms “, he added.

The legislative push occurs only a few days after Trump announced his own “America Prays” program, who calls on the Americans to devote time to time every week to pray for the country and underline the faith as central to the Foundation and the future of the nation.

Trump’s push is however only an encouragement and has no legislative weight. The initiative also suggests that people join at least 10 others each week to pray.

“President Trump revived one of the most important and powerful founding principles in America – we are a nation under God,” said White House spokesman Taylor Rogers on Monday. “While we are approaching the 250th anniversary of the world’s largest country, President Trump invites Americans to pray for our nation and for our people. America is stronger with the power of prayer.”

Protect the declaration of independence in our 250th year

The debate on the Christian foundations of America was put under the spotlight last week thanks to a back and forth between Senator Tim Kaine, D-VA., And Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas.

Addressing a federal candidate, Kaine made fun of the idea that rights are based on something other than the government.

“The idea that rights do not come from laws and do not come from the government, but come from the creator – this is what the Iranian government believes,” said Kaine. “The declaration that our rights do not come from our laws or our governments are extremely disturbing.”

After Kaine left the hearing, Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, reacted forcefully to the comments.

“I almost fell from my chair because this” radical and dangerous notion “- in its words- is literally the founding principle on which the United States of America has been created,” said Cruz.

He then cited Thomas Jefferson’s words in the declaration of independence, saying: “We consider these truths that manifest themselves, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are life, freedom and the continuation of happiness.”

Cruz shared a video of Kaine’s remarks alongside his and wrote: “The occasional conviction of the founding principle of America is exactly what is wrong with the Democratic Party today. The government protects our Rights given by GodThis does not create them or destroys them. “”
