The federalization by President Donald Trump of the DC police department and the repression of Washington’s crime have massively benefited the blacks, who are common victims of violent crimes, found data on crime.
“You spend 13 days without a homicide.” And therefore these lives, you have blacks who are not dead, who otherwise have died. ”
Lott published data in August by focusing on Washington, the DC zero homicide series at 13 days following Trump federalizing the city’s police service, deployment of national guard members in the streets and releasing federal law bodies to help arrests and crime scammers. There were no homicides recorded in the city from the afternoon of August 13 until early in the morning of August 26, according to police data, the sequence ending when a 31-year-old was killed on August 26.

Using the city’s homicides rate since the first seven months of 2025, Lott found that there was a probability of 0.37% of such a sequence without homicide occurring in itself. The figure is based on DC crime data which is currently under the survey of the Ministry of Justice to affirm that the police service has manipulated crime data to publish more favorable statistics.
The sequence of no homicide benefits massively in black American, revealed the data. Between 2019 and 2021, black victims represented 96% of all homicides in the district, according to the report.
“Do you have others who are there who come out and claim that Trump’s policies are racist. Who are victims of these crimes?” Lott asked, referring to democratic politicians who rejected Trump’s plans to deploy repression of similar crimes in other notorious cities for crime misfortunes.

The mayor of Chicago, Brandon Johnson, for example, recently argued that the incarceration of criminals is “racist” and “immoral”.
Trump says that “we are against crime. Democrats and crime ‘
“We cannot incarcerate our path of violence; we have already tried this, and we have ended up with the largest prison population in the world without solving the problems of crime and violence,” said Johnson at a August press conference, the New York Post reported.
“The dependence on prisons and incarceration in this country, we have exceeded this,” he said. “He is racist, he is immoral, he is impious, and it is not the way of reducing violence.”

The number of zero homicides during the period of August 13, follows the city which is experiencing a series of 16 days of zero homicides between February 24 and March 13. However, crimes generally increase during the summer months – when residents spend more time outside and the days are longer – compared to winter months.
“Homicides generally culminate during the summer months, but DC does not provide historical ventilation accessible per month,” Lott reported about the data. “Consequently, including unusually low months such as February and March in the totals during the first seven months of 2025 – or even on the total of the full year for 2024 – artificially lowers these figures compared to the period of August that we examine. If we had the data to adapt to this seasonal variation, the results probably appear even more statistically significant.”

Trump floated on several occasions by sending the National Guard to Chicago to fight against the crime of the city, while Johnson and the Democratic Governor of Illinois JB Pritzker avoided discussions as useless.
“If it seems to you as I am alarmist, it is because I do an alarm,” said Pritzker to the media in August. “Donald Trump wants to use the military to occupy an American city to punish its dissidents and score political points. If that happened in another country, we would have no trouble calling it what it is: a dangerous Gob of power.”
“The President of the United States does this for the theater,” added Pritzker. “It is not because we asked it. It is not because there is justice that he is going to seek. It is because he wants to create chaos.”
Chicago has long been a notoriously dangerous American city, summer weekends, often causing dozens of injuries and dead. The rate of homicides for the city in 2024, however, was seated at around 17.4 homicides per 100,000 people, which is much lower than rates in more dangerous cities such as Memphis, Tennessee – which saw 40.6 homicides per 100,000 people in 2024.
If the Trump administration aims to save the most lives, however, heading for Chicago before Memphis, Tennessee, reaches this goal, said Lott.

“Should you look at the murder rate or the number of lives to save? If most of the lives is the goal, in 2024, Chicago (recorded) 573 murders, Memphis 242,” Lott wrote in a post comparing the two cities.
Trump’s presidential campaign included repeated wishes to reduce crime through the United States following the bloody trends in the country that started in 2020 among the police and riot demonstrations that summer. He federally dc on August 11 under article 740 of the rule of the domicile of the Columbia district, which allows the president to assume the emergency control of the capital forces for 30 days.

There have been 1,914 total arrests at DC on September 5 since the start of the repression in August, including illegal immigrants, those who have pending mandates, people wearing illegal firearms or drugs and other crimes.
Lott said the operation will also have indirect advantages for DC residents, in particular its poorest inhabitants who have suffered from closed stores in recent years due to crime and operating costs in a city shaken by crime.
“Whoever goes to a CVS or Walgreens knows that everything is behind plexiglass there,” he said. “You want to go buy something, you have to wait for an employee to come, unlock things for yourself, then stand next to you while you read the packages and try to understand what you want to buy. So these are huge costs that these companies must have. It means that the products you have are more expensive.

“The jobs that people had for working in these stores are lost,” he said. “And those who stay in business, their prices are increasing. And this means that the poor must spend more of their money to go and buy anything there. So all these bad things happen.”
