Woman made ballots illegally under the name of her dog during the elections in California

A Californian woman illegally recorded her dog to vote and drop two ballots under the name of the canine, according to officials.

Laura Lee Yourx, 62, of Costa Mesa, faces five crime accusations, including perjury, to pay or offer a false or falsified document to deposit, disappointing a ballot when he is not authorized to vote and to record a nonexistent person to vote, according to the Orange County Prosecutor’s Office.

Yourx submitted voting ballots by mail under the name of his dog, Maya Jean Yourex, during the election of reminder of governor in 2021 and the 2022 primary, said the office of the district prosecutor.

The reminder was counted, but the main election was rejected.

The woman pointed out in October of last year to the registrar of the Orange County voters office, who reported it to the District Prosecutor’s Office.

An investigation into the incident revealed that she had published on her dog’s voting activity on social networks.

In January 2022, yourx published a photo of his dog with a “I voted” sticker and posing with the ballot.

In October of last year, she published a photo of the dog’s necklace and a ballot sent by post addressed to the animal, saying that Maya had always received the ballot despite the death.

“Maya still gets his ballot,” wrote yourx.

Yourx risks a maximum sentence of six years in prison if it is found guilty of all the charges.

The district prosecutor’s office did not reveal how yourx expressed fraudulent votes or which party received the dog’s votes.

To register to vote in California, an eligible voter must fill out a form with identifiable information, political preferences and assert his citizenship under the penalty of perjury.

Proof of residence or identification is not required for citizens to vote to vote or vote in the state elections, but proof of residence and registration is necessary for voters for the first time votes during a federal election.
