The Trump administration asked the Supreme Court on Thursday to authorize the president to dismiss a member of the Federal Trade Commission, after the lower courts judged that he did not have the power to withdraw members from independent agencies without reason.
President Donald Trump has moved to dismiss the slaughter of Rebecca earlier this year, but the lower courts have judged that it could keep his job because the law only allows the commissioners to be removed for questions such as misconduct or negligence of duty.
Earlier this week, a court of appeal said that Trump had illegally dismissed the slaughter and that his shot was downright disagreeing with the previous Supreme Court.

The Ministry of Justice maintains that the FTC and other executive branch agencies are under the control of Trump and that the president has the power to withdraw the commissioners without reason.
The tests of the president’s dismissal power could lead the highest court in the country to consider canceling a decision of the 1935 Supreme Court known as the Humphrey testamentary executor, in which the judges unanimously ruled that the presidents cannot dismiss independent members of the board of directors without reason.
The decision caused an era of powerful independent federal agencies responsible for regulating labor relations, discrimination in employment, waves and other questions.

This case was also centered on the FTC, which was underlined by judges from the bottom of the court in the trial submitted by Slaughter, who was dismissed and rehired several times this year while the case sounded in court.
The FTC is a regulator created by Congress which applies consumer protection measures and antitrust legislation. The agency’s seats are generally made up of three members of the President party and two of the opposing party.
Slaughter was appointed for the first time by Trump in 2018, then renamed by former president Joe Biden. She is the only remaining democrat on the FTC.

The High Court has already authorized the abolition of several other members of the board of directors of independent agencies.
The judges also suggested that Trump’s dismissal powers have limits to the federal reserve, which could soon be tested in the case of Lisa Cook, member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.
