The American representative Jerrold Nadler, DN.Y., will not ask for his re -election next year, according to the media.
This decision will mark the end of the 34 years of Nadler at the Congress where he was a leading liberal voice on a range of questions.
“Watching the thing Biden really said something about the need for a generational change in the party, and I think I want to respect this,” Nadler said to the New York Times.

This was obvious when Nadler, 78, was forced to give up the management of his judicial committee of the Chamber at the start of the term when he became clear that a younger and more energetic colleague would fight him.
Nadler was a vocal critic of President Donald Trump, warning Democratic colleagues in Trump’s leadership style. The two clashed dating from the 1980s on Manhattan’s development projects.
“I’m not saying that we should change the whole party,” he said. “But I think that a certain change is very useful, especially when we are faced with the challenge of Trump and his nascent fascism.”

He finally managed to direct articles of dismissal through his committee in 2019.
Nadler has not discussed who could potentially succeed him, saying that several candidates could run to replace him.
But a person familiar with his thought told Times that Nadler plans to support Micah Lasher, who represents parts of the Upper West Side in the New York State Assembly, if he was heading.

Speaking with Times, Nadler said he was confident of the Democrats to regain control of the House next year.
“Then you can cut the reign of terror in two,” he said.
