There is no reason why the Americans live in fear while President Donald Trump floats mobilizing the national guard troops in other cities to fight crime as he did in Washington, insists the White House.
While the leaders of Illinois, including Governor JB Pritzker, clearly indicated that they are not interested in receiving troops from the National Guard in Chicago, the White House said that it would host the requests of republican leaders and democrats for additional law support to reduce crime in American cities.
“This is our message to the Americans in the cities managed by the country’s democrats: the decline is a choice,” said the White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Thursday. “You don’t have to live constantly a constant fear of being stolen, raped or murdered. Your leaders are lying to you – and they have failed you for decades.”

“Governor Pritzker is expected to spend less time demonizing the police, more time trying to recruit more police officers and more time trying to call the President of the United States to obtain crime in his city under control,” said Leavitt. “The president wants to allow the police, whether the state, the premises, the federally, to do their job, to stop the criminals, to put them behind bars and to withdraw public security threats from the American communities, he will continue to do so.”
Pritzker, a democrat who did not exclude herself to be prevented in 2028, rejected the possibility that the troops of the National Guard will arrive in Chicago to fight crime, and said on Monday that this decision would be “unconstitutional” and “non -American”.
“Donald Trump wants to use the military to occupy an American city, punish its dissidents and score political points,” said Pritzker. “If it happened in another country, we would have no trouble calling it what it is – a dangerous seizure of power.”

Meanwhile, Chicago mayor Brandon Johnson said in a Friday statement that crime was down in Chicago and said the city in the past year had reduced homicides by more than 30%, flights by 35%and shooting by almost 40%.
But the White House continued to highlight the local reports that Chicago has had the most murders from all American cities for 13 years, from the most recent data in 2024.
“For 13 consecutive years, Chicago had the most murders of any American city,” Leavitt said on Thursday. “It is the heritage of JB Pritzker, by the way.”

“He should put aside politics,” said Leavitt. “He should win the phone and call this president, who would be more than happy to do the good of the American residents respectful of the laws in the city of Chicago. And we hope he will do it.”
Chicago does not have the most murders per capita and is not listed in the best five cities for murder per capita in the data compilations of the FBI 2024.
Trump disclosed the plans on August 11 to mobilize troops of the National Guard of DC and federalize the Metropolitan Police Service to fight crime in the national capital. Since then, Trump has said that he could send national guard troops to other United States cities, including Chicago.
“We are entering, we resolve Chicago in a week, maybe less,” Trump told journalists on Monday morning. “But in a week, we will have no crime in Chicago, like no crime at DC”
