A report supported by the United Nations declaring famine in the regions of Gaza sparked a war of words on the conditions of the enclave.

Friday, the integrated classification of the food security phase (IPC) published a report in which he declared for the first time that the Gaza governorate has experienced famine. Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis are in severe crisis. The conditions in the north of Gaza are estimated as serious as those of the governorate of Gaza or worse. The IPC report does not affect Rafah’s conditions, because it is largely considered to be depopulated.

The IPC, a sustained initiative of the United Nations involving United Nations, NGOs and technical experts, has been largely considered the global standard to classify food crises.

Israel fiercely pushed the conclusions of the report, with the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying that it was “a pure and simple lie”. While the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Oren Marmorstein, said that the report was “tailor-made” based on “Hamas is launched by organizations with acquired interests” and denied that there is a famine in Gaza.

“Israel has no famine policy. Israel has a starvation prevention policy,” wrote the Prime Minister’s office in a wire on X which included Israeli data on the situation in Gaza.

Marmorstein also said that the IPC “had twisted its own rules and ignored its own criteria just to produce false accusations against Israel”.

In its August 22 report, the IPC planned that at the end of September, the famine will extend to Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis, leaving 641,000 people in famine conditions. The report provides that the number of people under phase 4 (emergency) conditions of the IPC will reach 1.14 million people while 198,000 will be in crisis.

In its recommendations, the IPC calls for an immediate cease-fire, a guarantee of unconditional and safe humanitarian access, of protection of civil infrastructure and large-scale humanitarian assistance.

After the publication of the report, the secretary general of the United Nations António Guterres condemned the Jewish state on X.

“It is not a mystery – it is an artificial disaster, a moral act and a failure of humanity itself. Famine is not only a question of food; it is the deliberate collapse of the systems necessary for human survival”, wrote Guterres on X. “As the occupying power, Israel has unequivocal obligations unequivocal in international law – including the duty to involve foods and medical supplies population.

Guterres ended his message with calls to a ceasefire, without hindrance and the return of hostages.

The head of UNICEF said that the malnutrition of Gaza reaches “famine levels” while humanitarian aid flows in

The United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), UNICEF, the United Nations United Nations United Nations Food Program (WFP) and the World Health Organization (WHO), which all participate in the IPC, have reiterated their appeal to an immediate humanitarian response and the cease-fire.

Israel’s coordination for government activities in the territories (COGAT) criticized the IPC to rely on entities managed by Hamas, UNRWA assessments and “unverifiable sources”, while ignoring Jerusalem data.

While Israel is faced with the blame for the hunger crisis in Gaza, UN’s own data show that most of its aid is looted

Richard Goldberg, Senior Advisor to the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) and former head of the Security Council of the White House and National Security during the two Trump administrations, challenged the report’s conclusions, qualifying them as a politically motivation.

“The ideology of destroying Israel and saving Hamas is widespread within UN NGOs and the extreme left, which led them to modify their own directives to declare famine to Gaza while they are unaware of a real famine in Sudan. Data does not support a declaration of famine in Goldberg in Gaza, but that it does not matter when the conclusion is politically pre-pré-feuded” to digital null fox.

Goldberg also noted the report calendar, which came only a few days after Israel said that he would enter the city of Gaza – which is in the Gaza governorate – was “the most revealing part of all this”.

The United States ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee shared a declaration from the Netanyahu office and said that “tons of food had entered Gaza, but Hamas’ savages stole him, ate a lot to become corpulents, sold it on the black market but they did not give it to the hostages.”

Fifty hostages have taken place in Gaza for almost 700 days. Among these, 20 are considered alive while the others are confirmed dead. Hamas holds their remains. Earlier this month, the terrorist group published a hostage video Evyatar David who seemed extremely thin and said that he had not eaten for days.
