President Donald Trump promised to continue a Senate practice which allows a legislator to block his American lawyer and his candidates for the district courts, while the first republican of the senatorial judicial committee was firm against the deployment of tradition.
Trump has recovered on the tradition of “blue brief” in the Senate, which indeed gives the Republicans and the Democrats of the Senate the capacity of veto to the district court and candidates for American lawyers in their states of origin. His desire to see the deleted practice comes as the Democrats of the Senate prevented themselves from making their way through the upper room quickly.

“We will also file a complaint on the blue shift,” Trump told journalists in the oval office on Monday. “You know, the blue slips make me impossible, as president, to appoint an American judge or lawyer because they have a gentleman agreement. Nothing commemorated. It is a gentleman of an agreement which is about 100 years old, where you have a president, like a republican, and if you have a democratic senator, this senator.”
His decision to turn to the courts also occurs after having targeted the judicial president of the Senate Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, during the weekend. He again demanded that Grassley remove the practice.
But on several messages on X on Monday, Grassley argued that without Blue Slips, none of Trump’s nominees would go and gather in the Senate.
“An American district judge candidate without blue shift has (the) votes to be confirmed on the Senate soil and they do not (the) votes to get out of the (committee),” said Grassley. “As president, I put (president) Trump names success and not failure.”
Trump argued that it was his constitutional right to appoint American judges and lawyers, but the law had “completely removed me in states that have only one American Democratic senator”.
Grassley reprimands Trump pressure for “ having courage ” to speed up appointments

“It is because of an old Obsolete old ” custom known as Blue Slip, that Senator Chuck Grassley, of the great state of Iowa, refuses to overthrow, even if the Democrats, including Joe Biden (twice!), Said Trump.
“Consequently, the only candidates that I can be confirmed for these most important positions are, believe or not, the Democrats! Chuck Grassley should allow powerful republican candidates to go up to these very vital and powerful roles, and to say to the Democrats, as they often tell us, to go to hell,” he continued.
Trump tells Schumer to go to hell ” on the Senate candidate

But Grassley replied that the tool was just as important for the Republicans, especially during the Biden administration, to make sure that Trump had more vacant positions to fill when he took office.
“The 100 -year” Blue Slip “allows senators of the original state 2 (have) contributions to the judges of us (lawyers) and district courts,” said Grassley. “In Biden Admin, the Republicans have kept 30 liberals out of the bench that Pres Trump can now fill (with) the Conservatives.”
Senate Democrats have indeed used the tradition of blue pants Since Trump took office for his second mandate to block some of his choices as part of their broader day newspaper of his candidates.
For example, the head of the Senate minority, Chuck Schumer, DN.Y., used his blue brief privileges for the American lawyers of Nix Trump for the South and Oriental Districts of New York.
And meaning. Cory Booker and Andy Kim, both Democrats from New Jersey, used the Blue Slip to oppose the appointment of Alina Habba to the American lawyer in the Garden State. Habba was exploited by Trump to play in the role of provisional, but after his mandate, a panel of judges chose not to extend his position.
A replacement was chosen but then fired by the Attorney General Pam Bondi. Trump then withdrew his appointment to Habba and restored his provisional status.
“Habba was withdrawn as president of the president for the New Jersey US Atty on July 24,” said Grassley. “(And) The (Judicial Committee) has never received any of the necessary documents for the Senate to check its appointment.”
Trump’s renewed ire occurs after distinguishing Grassley last month so as not to have the longtime tradition, which is not a law, and asked that it “has the courage” to change the practice.

This also occurs after the Senate Republicans and the Democrats did not have an agreement on the spot through many presidents of the president before leaving Washington for all of August.
Finding a path to go, including a probable change in the Senate confirmation process, should be an absolute priority for the Republicans when they return to the hill after the Labor Day.
