President Donald Trump launched the week’s meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other European leaders in the White House – just a few days after Trump met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska – and said he had about two weeks to determine how the United States would continue in the ongoing negotiations.
One main objective of the meetings was to discuss various security measures to prevent Russian assault against Ukraine again, after the Trump administration reported that Putin was on board with the United States and its European allies to provide additional protection to Ukraine, similar to the protections included in the NATO mutual defense clause.
However, Trump said on Tuesday that sending American troops to Ukraine to strengthen security in the region was outside the table.

Meanwhile, Trump told journalists on Friday that he would have a better idea of knowing if an agreement that puts an end to the conflict is possible and what type of actions that the United States should take forward in the negotiations in the coming weeks.
“We will see what is going on. I think that over the next two weeks, we will find out in what direction it will go,” Trump told journalists on Friday.
“It will be a very important decision,” said Trump. “And it is whether or not they are massive sanctions or massive prices, or both. Or do we do nothing and say:” Is it your fight? “”
