On Friday, the Texas Senate adopted a new congress card in an offer supported by Trump to strengthen the chances of the Republican party to maintain its majority in the American chamber next year.
The new Texas card secures five other districts of the republican congress in the Lone Star State, shifting the balance of powers before the competitive mid-term elections expected in 2026.
The Republicans won political victory despite the weeks of democrats who break the quorum, which included the flight of the state to avoid a remiscover vote.
Friday, the state Senate under the control of the Republican adopted the redistribution card, just two days after erased the GOP chamber with a vote of 88-52. Then the measure heads for the governor. Greg Abbott office for his signature.

Abbott prompted the creation of a new card to join President Donald Trump’s desire not to see a rehearsal of the 2018 electoral cycle, when the Democrats found the majority in the House and acted as a sheet of the president’s legislative aspirations towards the end of his first mandate.
Senator Phil King, R-Texas, brought the card to the Senate and supported on the ground that the card generated more competitive districts, but still thought that they would be won by the Republicans during the mid-term electoral cycle of 2026.
“(House Bill) Four, I believe, should elect more Republicans at the US Congress, but I am here to tell you that there is no guarantee,” he said.

While the Republicans control a supermajority in deep red Texas, the Democrats still have to create a quorum in the chamber to advance the process.
Dozens of Texas Democrats fled the state to block the process, creating a national media frenzy and generating support from Democratic donors, including groups related to George Soros and Beto O’RourkeTo help pay their fines, trips and accommodation.

Democratic leaders announced on Monday that they would return for the second special session after the California plan to redraw its cards to soften the stroke of the solitary star state, put an end to the blockade and allow the Republicans to load in advance.
The Democrats of the Chamber of Texas accused the GOP of making a card which was illegal and racial discriminatory, and they tried and failed on the floor of the Chamber to add modifications to the bill which would have interrupted the process. Despite the best efforts of the Democrats, the Republicans of the Texas Chamber have shot a dozen changes to the bill.

“Members break my hearts to see how this illegal and rigged and mid-Decennie redistribution program divides our state and our country,” said representative Chris Turner, a democrat. “It’s Texas, it’s not Washington DC The impulses of external politicians and their billionaire donors should not dictate what we do in this room, in this house.”
Representative Todd Hunter, a republican who wrote the bill for the new card, replied that four of the five new districts were “mainly minority Hispanic”, noting that each of the new districts is now a republican trend. However, he had no qualms about the reason why the Republicans pursued changes to the Congress cards.
“The underlying objective of this plan is simple, (to) improve republican political performance,” he said.
