“The crossbow pedestrian crossing was approved by FDOT years ago to honor the security of 49 + pedestrians for those who come to pay tribute to them. You looked at the survivors in your eye + released in a post.

The mayor of Orlando, Buddy Dyer, also decried the decision of the State of Sunshine.

“We are devastated to learn that at night, the state painted on the passage for the bites of Pulse Memorial on Orange avenue. This insane action to hastily remove part of a memorial to what was at the time at the greatest mass shooting in our country, without any security or discussion data, is a cruel political act,” said Dyer in a statement Posted Thursday.

“Earlier this year, the Department completed a process of several months of updating the manual on uniform traffic control systems (MUTCD) with the contributions of the representatives of state and local governments.

“In June, FDOT informed all the local governments of these updates and revised the provisions of the Statutes of Florida which give the department the power to retain public funds for non-compliance. This was followed by similar political updates from the Secretary of the USDOT DUFFY.

“Last week, local governments that do not comply (with) the local roads began to receive notifications to bring their roads to state standards to ensure that the inhabitants govern themselves accordingly,” added FDOT. “In addition to ensuring that all local governments conform, the fdot has completed an examination of all the roads maintained by the state and now corrects the road marks which do not comply.

“The transport infrastructure concerns the movement of people and goods. In this case, although the pedestrian crossing has been restored on its appropriate form, local efforts are underway to build a permanent memorial on the adjacent properties funded by the state of Florida. Any attempt to suggest the opposite is false.”
