The continuous verification program targets 55 million foreigners with American visas

More than 55 million visa holders are now under continuous verification because the Trump administration intensifies its repression of immigration.

The State Department first confirmed the decision The Associated PressSaying that opinions aim to determine whether individuals are not eligible to enter or stay in the country. The spokesperson added that the department cancels visas when there is “indications of potential ineligibility, which includes things like all the overvaluation, criminal activity indicators, threats to public security, to engage in any form of terrorist activity or to support a terrorist organization.”

The information that the ministry examines in the verification process includes the files of the police and “any other information which is revealed” after the issuance of the visa which could indicate ineligibility.

“As part of the Trump administration’s commitment to protect the national security of the United States and public security, since the day of the inauguration, the State Department has revoked more than twice as many visas, including almost four times more student visas, than during the same period last year,” said the spokesperson.
