Pentagon encourages civilian employees to join DHS immigration efforts

The Pentagon encourages its civilian employees to join a “volunteer force” helping immigration efforts from the Ministry of Internal Security, Fox News learned.

The Ministry of Defense informed its approximately 950,000 civilian employees in a Wednesday email, saying that they can apply to work with immigration and customs application (ICE) as well as customs and borders (CBP) protection on a temporary basis.

“DHS and the DOD have officially signed a (memorandum of understanding which allows DOD civilians to participate in details,” an American defense official told Fox News. “DOD civilian employees are now able to request these details via USAJOBS. The ministry expelled an email to civilian employees encouraging them to apply yesterday.”

The USAJOBS publication indicates that “in -depth overtime” can be required and that conditions in certain places could be “austere”. He adds that ice and CPB can pay for all basic wages, overtime, bonus wages and travel costs.

The Pentagon decision comes while the Ministry of Internal Security is already working to hire 10,000 additional full -time ice agents. Last week, the DHS praised some 100,000 requests it had received for the posts.

“Your country calls you to serve at Ice and defend the fatherland,” said the acting director of ice, Todd Lyons, in a press release earlier this month. “In the wake of open border policies of the Biden administration, dedicated ice men and women are now faced with unprecedented challenges to eliminate millions of illegal criminal foreigners from our country.”

“Thanks to the only great good bill, we now have funding to recruit and hire Americans who want to serve their country patriotically and protect American communities,” added Lyons.
