“So, we’re going to ask him, you know, many questions about what he would say publicly from behind the White House podium and what he would tweet – and see if he still stands next to many of these statements he has made.”

Commer wrote in Sams at the end of June: “You were a first line of defense to run negative stories on the president and his misadventures.”

He stressed that Sams’ mandate in this role, which lasted from May 2022 to the end of August 2024, extended over a large part of the second half of Biden’s mandate.

“The scope of your responsibilities – both official and other – and personal interactions within the Oval Office cannot go without investigation, given the growing evidence that President Biden was invalid for many, if not the entire term,” wrote Comer. “If the White House staff have carried out a strategy for months or even years, to hide the state of the chief executive – or to exercise their functions – the congress may need to consider a legislative response.”
