Former President Barack Obama said on Wednesday that he respects the thrust of the Governor of California Gavin Newsom for a redistribution plan to add more democratic seats in the blue state.

“I believe that the approach of Governor Newsom is a responsible approach. He said that it was going to be responsible. We are not going to try to maximize it completely,” said Obama during a fundraising on Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts on Tuesday, according to extracts obtained by the Associated Press.

“We are going to do it that if and when Texas and / or other Republican States are starting to draw these maneuvers. Otherwise, this does not come into force,” he added.

In a position Wednesday on X, Obama said the Gerrymandering should not be part of the policy. Instead, this should be a “fair fight” between the Republicans and the Democrats according to competition from ideas.

Changes in the seats of the Texas Chamber and California could change the control of the congress in 2026. Some analysts say that the Democrats could pick up up to five additional seats in California if the Newsom plan succeeds, potentially canceling the republican gains in Texas.

Newsom’s plan aims to counter a Texas decision on the redistribution of the congress before the mid-term elections next year.

In Austin, the GOP predominantly predominantly House of State Representatives resumed a second consecutive special session called by the Conservative Republican last week Governor Greg Abbott.

But the Republicans of the Texas Chamber were prevented from holding votes on a new card for two weeks when dozens of representatives of the Democratic State fled the state to refuse the GOP a quorum in the Texas Chamber.

“Since Texas took over the management of a partisan White House and a Gerrymandering in the middle of a decade to try to maintain the house despite their unpopular policies, I have enormous respect for the way Governor Newsom approached this,” wrote Obama on X.

The former commander -in -chief said that Newsom had proposed an “intelligent and measured approach” designed to solve “a very particular problem at a very special moment”.

Newsom is moving to organize a special election this year to obtain the approval of voters to cancel the constitutional amendments that created the non -partisan redistribution committee, Fox News Digital reported.
