The Russian drone crashes in Poland, the Minister of Defense calls him “provocation”

A Russian drone may have crashed into an area in Poland, a move that the country’s Deputy Prime Minister called a “provocation”, while the United States and European leaders continue to push Moscow to end his war in Ukraine.

The drone struck a cornfield in the village of Osiney in the eastern province of Lublin, about 62 miles from the Frontier of Poland with Ukraine, Reuters reported.

Deputy Prime Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, who also serves as a Minister of Defense, said Wednesday’s incident was similar to the cases in which Russian drones flew to Lithuania and Romania and could be linked to the efforts to end the war in Ukraine, according to the outlet.

“Once again, we are dealing with a provocation of the Russian Federation, with a Russian drone. We face a crucial moment, when discussions on peace (in Ukraine) are underway,” Kosiniak-Kamsz told journalists.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pawel Wronski, told Reuters that some experts suggested that a Russian version of the Shahed drone developed by Iran was involved in the last incident.

Polish general Dariusz Malinowski said the drone had a Chinese engine and seemed to be a lure designed to self -destruct.

The explosion broke the windows in several houses, but no one was injured, reported the Paponian PAP news.

The police recovered burned metal and plastic debris from the site.

“I was sitting in my room at night around midnight, perhaps, and I heard something,” local resident Pawel Sudowski told Local News Lukow.tv. “He exploded so hard that the whole house simply trembled.”

On X, the Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said his ministry issued a protest against the airspace violation, without naming the attacker.

“Another violation of our eastern airspace confirms that the most important mission in Poland towards NATO is the defense (sic) of our own territory,” he wrote.

The incident came while the Trump administration continues to discussions between Russia and Ukraine to end the three -year -old bloody conflict. Trump welcomed Ukrainian President Volodyr Zelenskiy and a group of European houses on the White House on Monday.
