Internal security secretary, Kristi Noem, announced Tuesday that the entire southern border wall will be painted black as part of the Trump administration efforts to increase the efficiency of the wall as a deterrent.

Speaking in front of a part of the southern border wall in Santa Teresa, in New Mexico, Noem explained that the wall would be painted entirely black for two purposes to heat it more and therefore more difficult to climb, as well as the increase in the life of the metal.

Noem said the new painting comes at the request of President Donald Trump.

“If you look at the structure behind me, it is large, which makes it very, very difficult to climb, almost impossible. It also goes deep in the ground, which would make it very difficult, if not impossible, to dig. And today, we will also paint it in black,” said Noem.

“This is specifically at the request of the president, who understands that in hot temperatures here, when something is painted in black, he warms even more and it will make people even more difficult to climb,” she added.

“So, we are going to paint the entire southern southern wall to make sure that we encourage individuals not to enter our country illegally, not to break our federal laws, but that they will respect and come to our country in the right way so that they can remain and have the possibility of becoming citizens of the United States and continuing the American dream.”

Noem credited the “ Big and the beautiful bill “which was adopted by the Congress in July to allocate” an incredible quantity of resources “which, according to her, will allow us to continue the construction” of the wall.

The secretary said that the construction of the wall is progressing at a rate of almost half a million per day. In addition to the additional wall and the new painting work, Noem said that the administration also invests in technology, cameras, sensors and infrastructures of water origin which, according to her, will ensure that the border “will be secure far in the future and which will also be effective”.

She also mentioned that the administration is not only focused on the southern border, but also in the North, saying: “We are a reasonable diligence to secure each thumb of our border.”

“Remember that a borderless nation is not at all national,” she said. “We are so grateful that we have a president who understands this and understands that a safe border is important for the future of our country.”

Noem was joined by several agents and officials of the border patrol, including the acting chief agent for the El Paso Walter Slosar sector. He shared that agents in the sector now apprehend an average of 41 people per day, against 2,300 per day under the Biden administration in 2023.

Slosar said the seven -day average for Gotaways in the sector was currently nine years. He said the majority of people apprehended are single adults from Mexico, Guatemala and Ecuador.

While the agents found themselves “observing” migrants passing by Biden, Slosar said that the illegals “flee from us”.

“We understand these individuals. Our gobuts are the lowest they have ever been. And we put that we work with the Ministry of Justice … We put criminal accusations on people who apply consequences and our partners in Ice ERO (Application and Referral Operations) withdraw the people of the United States.”

Slosar said morale among border patrol agents in the El Paso sector “is better than ever because we are doing our national security work, and we keep this area in safety”.

“Words and messages count. It is not normal to illegally enter the country, and someone finally says that, it is our leadership here in the American government,” he said.
