Since the main upheaval of Zohran Mamdani earlier this summer, the candidate for the Democrat Town Hall has been described as “communist” by President Donald Trump.

The supporters of Mamdani, who spoke to Fox News Digital during a launch of canvas to Prospect Park on Sunday, rejected the term, arguing that his main victory represented more than arbitrary labels.

“It is not necessarily communism that won New York primary, but the vision it offers to a more affordable New York,” said Nina, a door kicker carrying a t-shirt “Educators for Zohran”. “That’s why people voted, and that’s what he won, and that’s what he’s going to win.”

Mamdani is an self-proclaimed democratic socialist who has been approved by progressive leaders, notably Senator Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., And representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, DN.Y. Trump was quick to call him “100% communist” after Mamdani announced the victory in June.

Bridget, professor of New York, and Perry both shook his head in disagreement when asked if these labels worry them.

“This is not ideology,” said Nicholas, a supporter of Mamdani who volunteered to Prospect Park for the launch of the solicitude of the campaign. “He does not try to demonize these terms, communism and socialism, which, frankly, I think that the American public does not have a very good idea of what these terms mean exactly.”

Nicholas said that Mamdani’s campaign is “much larger than that”.

“I have many students from immigrants who are worried about their security, their parents’ safety,” said Nicholas. “I have children who fear that ice agents come to school and leave them from the class.”

Nicholas explained that this is why having a candidate like Mamdani, who is committed to protecting immigrant communities from “what Trump and his friends are trying to do, disappearing from people”, is so important to him.

“Having a mayor who regroups firmly and boldly is why I am here,” he added. “This is why I want Zohran to be mayor.”

Perry said she supported Mamdani because he “has a great vision for the city”, especially on housing.
