The illegal immigrant truck driver accused of provoking an accident that killed three people in Florida received a work permit under Biden administration, officials announced on Monday.

Harjinder Singh, who was arrested on Saturday in Stockton, California, for three homes of vehicle homicide, entered illegally in the United States and that his work permit was rejected under the Trump administration on September 14, 2020, said Tricia McLaughlin, deputy secretary of internal security for public affairs.

McLaughlin noted Singh’s work approval in response to the governor of California Gavin Newsom, who said that the first Trump administration “confirmed that this type meets the requirements of federal and state immigration – you have issued him a work permit (EAD).”

“As usual, the Trump administration is distraught,” wrote Newsom’s press office on X.

McLaughlin noted that the federal government does not make a commercial driving license.

He remains in detention for the two accusations of homicide by state vehicles as as well as immigration violations.
