Russia strikes Ukraine while Zelenskyy meets Trump, killing 10

Like the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Washington, DC, to meet President Donald Trump in the White House, Russia rout his nation with air strikes on Monday, killing 10.
Seven people, including a young child and a 16 -year -old, were killed by a Russian drone strike on the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, according to local authorities.
Ukrainian officials took the strikes as a message from Russian President Vladimir Putin, which he did not intend to end the war.
“This is why Putin does not want to stop ceasing,” wrote Andriy Yermak, the chief of staff of Zelenskyy, on Telegram. “He likes to bomb peaceful cities while talking about his desire to end the war.”

Video sequences Among the consequences published by the local authorities, shows a residential building where the higher levels collapsed, the firefighters making it travel while the smoke rises from the rubble.
A partially vague photo published by Ukraine’s emergency services seemed to show a firefighter holding the soft body of a child.
Ihor Terekhov, the mayor of Kharkiv, wrote on Telegraph that he thought that the attack on the residential building was “deliberate”.

At least three others were killed during an attack in the southern city of Zaporizhzhia and nearly 20 injured, local people The authorities said.
Zelenskyy addressed the bombing on Monday at the start of his meeting with Trump, noting that a child and a half had been killed.

“We have to arrest this war, to arrest Russia. And we need support partners, American and European. We will do our best for that,” said Zelenskyy.
Russia had produced gains in the Eastern region of Donetk d’Est de Ukraine before the Putin summit with Trump in Alaska, in a movement of spectators who had been designed to obtain a territorial lever effect before the negotiations with high issues.
But since at least the beginning of this month, Russia has apparently reduced the number of drones and missiles which it draws towards the Ukrainian cities every night.
Trump, before meeting with Putin, said he would be “unhappy” if the Russian chief did not accept a cease-fire.

And although Putin does not seem to accept a cease-fire at this meeting, Trump praised the meeting as a victory and said that the pair had concluded an agreement on a certain number of questions.
A United Nations report revealed that between December 2024 and May 2025, 1,000 civilians in Ukraine, including the regions occupied by Russia, had been killed.
