President Donald Trump said his meeting at the White House on Monday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not a last attempt to help Ukraine obtain a peace agreement ending his war with Russia.

“I can never say that. It’s never the end of the road,” Trump told journalists in the oval office on Monday. “People are killed, and we want to stop this. So I wouldn’t say it’s the end of the road. No, I think we have a good chance of doing it now. It’s been almost four years now that a lot of people have been killed last week, many people last week. I mean, millions of people killed, but many people last week, for any reason, a lot of soldiers, Soldiers, of myself, I know a lot of soldiers, of myself, I know a lot of soldiers, of myself, I know a lot of soldiers, of myself, I know a lot of soldiers, I know a lot of soldiers, of myself, I know a lot of soldiers, of myself, I know a lot of soldiers, of myself, I know a lot of soldiers, of myself, I know a lot. Zelenskyy, who has not visited the White House since February, is joined by other European leaders who supported Ukraine. The leaders also in Washington include British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the French president Emmanuel Macron and the secretary general of NATO, Mark Rutte.

Trump told journalists that he would not eliminate the possibility that American troops can be deployed in Ukraine following a peace negotiation to ensure that Russia confirms its end of negotiation.

Although Trump said on Sunday that NATO membership for Ukraine was not an option for a potential peace agreement, the American special envoy Steve Witkoff said on Sunday that Putin had agreed to authorize the United States and other European allies to provide additional protection to Ukraine, similar to the protections included in the NATO mutual defense clause.

“We were able to win the following concession that the United States could offer type 5 protection, which is one of the real reasons why Ukraine wants to be in NATO,” said Witkoff in an interview with CNN.
