Trump says Zelenskyy “ can end war with Russia almost immediately ”

President Donald Trump said on Sunday that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy could end the war with Russia “almost immediately” if he wanted it.

Trump’s comments become before his meeting planned with Zelenskyy and several European leaders in Washington, DC on Monday.

“President Zelenskyy of Ukraine can end the war with Russia almost immediately, if he wants, or he can continue to fight,” said Trump in an article on Truth Social. “Remember how it started. No recovery from Obama gave Crimea (12 years ago, without having been pulled!), And not to enter NATO through Ukraine. Some things never change !!!”

NATO secretary general, Mark Rutte, the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the French president Emmanuel Macron, the British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and the Finnish president Alexander Stubb confirmed on Sunday that they would attend the meeting in Washington.

Zelenskyy met Von Der Leyen in Brussels before Trump’s talks to set priorities for the White House meeting, focusing on long -term military aid, EU EU ambitions and strengthening transatlantic solidarity against Russian aggression.

Von Der Leyen said at a joint press conference that she was happy to join Zelenskyy and other Washington leaders on Monday.

The meeting of the White House of Zelenskyy follows the Trump summit with Russian president Vladimir Putin in anchorage on Friday, where Trump dropped his request for a ceasefire and exhorted a last peace contract.

After meeting Putin, Trump said the Russian chief was willing to end the war in exchange for the main Ukrainian territorial concessions. He added that Kyiv should conclude the agreement because “Russia is very great power, and this is not the case”.
